La Locanda Dei Pisani Doc Pisa — Restaurant in Pisa

We visited Pisa in January and our experience at La Locanda has been mentioned every time I talk of our Italy vacation. So, a review is a must. We 3 California girls had checked into our Apt in Pisa and done our walking tour of Tower etc. We were cold, wet and hungry. The owner of Apt had left a list of a few of her personal recommendations for dining. The La Locanda was just a block away so why not!!! We ducked in and were the only ones there and realized they hadn't opened yet. But owner Andrea was waving come-in, come-in. Finding out he spoke little english (we no Italian) we all used sign language, smiles and laughs. Here we were in a place famous for clams & fish and we wanted pasta. He obviously forgave us by saying he'd take care of us and so he did. He presented a delicious local red wine and magnificent bread like we had never tasted. Then came the antipasti followed by 3 wonderfully different pasta dishes. Each sauce was to die for. So busy eating we didn’t get pictures of pasta dishes. Locals started pouring in and within mins the place was almost full. All of them were enjoying the clam dishes. Andrea wanted to give us dessert and more wine. We indicated 1 dessert 3 spoons and he insisted on topping off our glasses with extra wine. We were unable to eat the vast amounts of pasta (which is a sin in Italy) but he kindly packed remaining up for us. Now we are ready for the bill and could hardly believe it. Truly LOCAL pricing. We left with hugs and happy bellies!! What a wonderful memory. The best way to thank Andrea for his kind, generous, delicious service was to write this review. I get tears in my eyes thinking about what this one experience meant to each of us. My 2 friends had never been to Italy and this was the best trip start ever. Con mia enorme e piacevolissima sorpresa ho visto, domenica 06/04/2019, su Rai 1 , a “ Linea Verde “, la Locanda dei Pisani ed il suo Locandiere Andrea. Andrea scusami se solo oggi scrivo la mia recensione, anziché la sera del 23 Febbraio scorso . Il 23 Febbraio 2019 ho festeggiato la mia Laurea alla Locanda dei Pisani . È stata una festa bellissima grazie anche all’ottima, varia ( pesce e carne ) ed abbondante ( antipasti, 4 primi e due secondi con contorni) cena consigliata da Andrea. Su suo suggerimento è iniziata con l’aperitivo , alcolico ed analcolico, fino a terminare con liquori e caffè . Quella sera abbiamo gustato i cavalli di battaglia della Locanda : il riassunto di mare, le bavette allo soglio , la frittura di totani gamberi e acciughe e tanti altri piatti , squisito addirittura anche il rosbif , presentato in ben due qualità di carne . I miei 50 ospiti sono rimasti tutti entusiasti dalla qualità del cibo. Tutto eccellente, altrettanto dicasi per i vini e spumanti che hanno annaffiato questa mega “pappata”. Veramente ottimo il menù, nonché dello stesso livello, il sevizio di sala: attento, svelto , preciso. Oltre ai miei invitati, a mezzanotte continuavano ancora ad entrare altri amici ed Andrea , con occhio vigile, non mancava di offrire loro ancora dolce e spumante. La festa è proseguita fino alla chiusura del locale , le due di notte. È volata via !!! Non poteva essere festa più bella ! Non dimenticherò mai la disponibilità di Andrea che , poche ore prima dalla cena , consegnò nelle nostre mani l’intera struttura. La mia organizzatrice di eventi , con qualche addobbo, trasformò la Locanda in un locale da Laurea, pur lasciandone perfettamente intatto lo stile. Stile che adoro, perché lì senti davvero l’anima di Pisa e dei Pisani, con i suoi tanti stendardi colorati ed i molti articoli pubblicati sul gioco del ponte. È questo che ha reso la mia festa di Laurea ancora più goliardica e non formale , come , a mio parere, si addice ad un tale evento. I tantissimi amici, giovani ed adulti, nonché parenti, sono rimasti colpiti da quella atmosfera così particolare. Non conto i ringraziamenti che mi sono arrivati nella notte stessa e nei giorni avvenire. Terminata la festa ho pensato subito: ”Chissà i miei genitori quanto avranno speso per tutto questo !? “ . Posso garantirvi che la cifra richiesta è stata irrisoria per quello che è stato offerto. Grazie Andrea, grazie per il bellissimo regalo. RAGAZZI ANDATE ALLA LOCANDA DEI PISANI A FESTEGGIARE I VOSTRI EVENTI, LE VOSTRE LAUREE , STARETE BENISSIMO , PAROLA DI SARA. LA QUALITÀ DEL VITTO SUPERA DI GRAN LUNGA IL PREZZO, PERALTRO VERAMENTE BASSISSIMO E ALLA PORTATA DI TUTTE LE TASCHE . Highly not reccomended. No menu or wine card; No one from staff speaks english; We were suggested by one of local guests speaking english only the fish course and meat course of 3 plates of 25 eur each, though locals were served by plates of mussels and other specialities...; Spaghetti from meat course were salted, veal from third plate was kind of rubber; No decent wine suggested. Ruined night... highly not recommended...
