Unfortunately, we didn't have a good meal here. We've been previously and it was really nice, but the visit a few days ago was nowhere completely the opposite. We had chicken chilli pakora for a starter, which was okay, but didn't have much flavour or heat for a dish with chilli specifically in the title. Next we ordered baigan bartha, pilau rice, garlic naan, chicken vindaloo, and chicken dopiaza. They arrived very quickly, actually too quickly as we were still eating the starter. Unfortunately, they were really not very good. They tasted nothing like the dish names they were supposed to be. The dopiaza was very watery and had a very unappealing colour. It should be a medium-mild curry that has a little sweetness as well. This was bland, with no flavour, no heat, and no sweetness. The chicken used seemed to be very low quality and there were multiple pieces of leg joint cartilage - so, inedible - throughout the dish. The vindaloo was terrible. I love hot spicy curries and this had zero heat, and zero flavour. Honestly? It tasted and looked the same as the chicken dopiaza. Same low quality chicken and cartilage. Worst vindaloo I've ever had. Totally wrong in every way. The baigan bartha... exactly the same colour and flavour of the other two meals. Again, completely wrong and very disappointing. The pilou rice was bland and had a strange texture. The garlic naan was another disappointment. Very small, overcooked, and the garlic had been burnt giving it a bitter flavour. The staff did bring us some chilli paste to try and add heat to the meal, but green chilli paste didn't add any heat to the dishes and completely stood out as a taste that didn't have any reason to be in the dish, ruining it even further, if that was possible. Unfortunately, we will not...
Read moreAfter 3 days of non-stop focaccia, pesto pasta & cheesy pizzas we were desperate to resurrect our Indian taste buds..We were roaming around in Pisa to find flavours and Namaste India was just the place...The chef Velu is from my state in India, Tamil Nadu and has worked in Mumbai and has fed Sachin Tendulkar, to Amitabh Bachan to the who's who in Bollywood. Such a lovely couple who have brought in their family, culture, food and goodness along with them from their village in interior Tamil Nadu. Their tandoori salad was brilliant, the naan breads, the gravies, the biryani were all lip smacking and soul fulfilling. Highly recommend and if you miss your home food, give them a call a day before and they will make you feel home cooking bespoke for you... Highly recommend this homely...
