Overall, a very odd experience and menu. Our hotel made us a reservation at this particular restaurant and upon entrance it was beautiful, with alfresco dining in a lovely garden. That was the most compelling draw for this restaurant, as the food was in my honest opinion underwhelming and incredibly pretentious for the price. The menu was expensive, with limited options. the bread was very delicious, served warm with a variety of bread sticks. There was a complementary first course, a “panini with tuna, cheese, and cucumber in a cold tomato sauce. An interesting concept however did not work and was very odd and unpalatable. We ordered cacio e Pepe with prawns and tomatoes, and tomato risotto with scampi. The cacio e pepe had good tagliatele, however had two small prawns, a single tomato, not a single bit of black pepper, and an Alfredo sauce that was equivalent to American Alfredo out of a jar. For €26, a scam. The risotto was bland, with Al denti Arborio and a tomato sauce that tasted like chef boi arde, topped with two small shrimp (debatable if they were cooked or not). This was followed up by a plate of bite sized grocery store esque desserts, once again complementary and not wanted. I hate to write a bad review, but I just found this to be incredibly disrespectful to Italian cuisine. Honestly, I am shocked by all the good reviews and I wonder if these people have ever had real quality food, or are as ignorant and or pretentious as the restaurant. So far our worst meal out of ten days in Italy, including pizza and sandwiches. The perk of the night was our very sweet assistant server, who took very good care of us pouring water, wine, and brought every dish. We only saw our main server about three times throughout...
Read moreExcellent fine dining experience in Positano! If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would!
Food: Meal started with a complimentary amuse bouche and ended with petit fours which was a lovely touch. The menu itself has a good range to select from including seafood, meat and pastas. We ordered al la carte with one appetizer, one starter, 2 mains and 2 desserts which was plenty of food for 2 people. Everything was beautifully cooked and very delicious. The standout dish for me was the Lemon Delight dessert. As a citrus lover this hit all the right flavour notes and I would go back again just for the dessert. The price is on the higher end but when the food is so well prepared and cooked and the quality is evident, it's worth it in my opinion. Also great selection of drinks including non-alcoholic which I appreciated.
Service was impeccable all the way from when we were first greeted to the end. Very professional, attentive and friendly.
The restaurant itself is part of the Hotel and situated in a very lovely and well designed garden courtyard. Great outdoor space for dinner on a warm summers night.
Many thanks to the waitstaff and chefs at Al Palazzo for one of the best meals we...
Read moreWe dined at 8pm and was warmly welcomed by the manager who even wished happy birthday - a very nice gesture. We came from a day trip in Capri and had a late lunch, so decided against the tasting menu (110eur).
Despite us reiterating to the server we are not very hungry he was still able to make a mistake of bringing 2 tortellini…which is not very logical for someone who is “full”. Did not send the food back as we did not want to waste food. They did offer and asked if it was “ok”
We had the eggplant parmigiana which was nice. Strip loin(recommended by server) was mediocre. Maybe stick to pasta dishes
Tried a Prosecco based drink - Murat Mon Amor, not good.
At the end they brought some nicely plated small sweets which we did not even touch because of the duplicate tortellini. We would have ordered desserts.
Overall service was ok(they try to make u feel welcome), food is definitely mediocre. Price is ok/midrange. Ambience is unpretentious but nothing to scream about. It was abit humid and there were insects (understandable since it’s a garden afterall)
We have dined at places with higher and lower price points during this trip but Ristorante Murat was unfortunately...
