I don’t normally write reviews, but my experience was just that awful. When we came in with reservations made beforehand, they could not find it, and was just told go upstairs. Upstairs we were greeted by the same question of reservations and the server acted as if we were right on time. The place was had barely any people, 4 other tables max. I don’t know why they were so worried about reservations, when clearly there wasn’t much people waiting to eat there; and now I understand why.
The main waiter forgot our order twice. When asked about a missing dish, the waiter was not apologetic and proceeded to go yell at the chef. After the meal, I had to ask for the check 3 times before getting visibly annoyed, there was literally only 3 other tables at this time. The waiter in the vest looked and gestured at me that I had to wait for the main waiter in the jacket to be given the check, which both were just standing around, talking and looking at his phone.
The icing on top, before I asked for the check, the main waiter was talking to another couple besides us about writing a review on TripAdvisor; that was not the case for us because he knew of the kind of serve that we have gotten.
Food was above average. View was fantastic.
Service was absolutely trash, just felt bad for the chef for the incompetent waiters. They didn’t even seem to care about their jobs.
If you go, just order drinks. It was definitely not...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem. So many busy spots just a bit further down the road, but none of them compared to our meal here. We enjoyed it so much we came back for a second night after trying a few others like Vincenzo. Both nights we walked right in and sat down (September) without a reservation, but they do make it available to book through Google which is nice.
All our dishes both nights were amazing. The Limone shrimp risotto was probably my favourite, I'd give it a 10 out of 10. Spaghetti Carbonara was also delicious, and had a nice thick rich sauce and I'd rate it a 9.5 out of 10. Second night I had the Nerano pasta which was also very good, I'd rate a 9 of 10. I had tried the Nerano at Vincenzo the night before and the mirage version was much better overall at only a few euro extra.
For dessert, we had the cheesecake with chocolate and fruit. It was a 10 of 10 in our books. Again, same dessert at Vincenzo the night before (and same price) was much smaller, less fruit, and not prepared as nicely.
While it's not cheap, but no restaurants in Positano are we found this to be better value and better food that many others in the area. They also served a complimentary pizza dough appetizer the first night, and second night a limonecello shot for each of us. Plus you can't beat the view here on the terrace. Highly...
Read moreArrived with reservation. We were made to wait approximately 10-15 minutes before even being acknowledged properly by wait staff. Then one wait staff showed us two tables of 4 and then the head manager waved to him to stop attempting to seat us until he finished taking the order of another table. That was another extra 5-7 minute wait. Our red flag radars jumped up immediately. Finally we were seated, without much of even a normal welcome, just simply rushed. Another 15 minute wait later, we noticed the head waiter sat a young white couple, chatted with them and started taking their order. That was the last straw for us. We got up and left. The head waiter than had the audacity to say we have less staff, to which we responded, then how did you promptly attend to the table after us? He didn’t have any answer and only doubled down by saying ‘leave a review’ to which I will happily oblige. The menu was also only one page without that many options. Of course it should be noted we were the only table of color at the venue at the time, so clearly the head waiter’s racism/bias/poor service was on display, and he got upset when called out on his behavior. We are so glad we got up and left because we had our best meal of Positano at Il Fornillo...
