I rarely feel compelled to write a review, but this was truly the worst service experience I’ve ever had in my entire life.
We did not have a reservation, but we were pleasantly surprised that we could be seated inside immediately. This was at ~19:30. Once seated, no one even approached us for 20 minutes. When someone came by, we ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our entrees at the same time. The drinks and appetizer came out within a reasonable amount of time, but once we were finished, we were sitting there for over an hour with no entrees. We fully anticipate that the pacing of meals is a little slower in Italy, but this was beyond what would be reasonable. A mom and son next to us had their entire meal, paid and left. A table behind us that arrived an hour after us had received their food while we still had not.
Upon realizing this, we politely asked our server about the status of our food. They brought out my boyfriend’s spaghetti and meatballs (which was cold at this point, probably from sitting out) and they brought me something I did not order. I told them I had actually ordered the carbonara, and they assured me they would correct this. After 45 minutes (and more than two hours at the restaurant at this point), I still had no food.
At this point, we decided it was best to just pay for what we got and leave. There was no apology, and they acted like we had somehow inconvenienced them or were being unreasonable. By the time we left, it was 22:00, so I didn’t have many options to eat dinner at all.
I can’t really comment on their food because I never got to eat, but I genuinely cannot believe we received such terrible service. There are so many AMAZING and friendly places in Positano to eat, so if you are visiting I would just...

Read moreWe had a generally wonderful trip to Positano, but this restaurant was the one unpleasant exception—and it deserves to be clearly addressed.
After our meal, one of us asked a waitress for directions to the restroom. Instead of pointing to the obvious restroom door, she repeatedly gestured toward a small wooden cabinet next to it. Thinking it might contain a key or be part of the restroom area, we opened it—only to be met with her loud, mocking laughter. It became clear that she had misled us on purpose.
It wasn’t just unprofessional—it crossed a line. Everyone deserves to be treated with basic dignity, especially in a service setting.
We calmly told her that this wasn’t acceptable. When we started documenting the moment with photos, the restaurant owner—who had witnessed the whole situation—seemed uneasy and asked her to apologize. Unfortunately, she simply smiled and said, “It’s just a joke, it’s okay,” without any acknowledgment or apology.
To be clear: – We were not angry or emotional. Our trip remained joyful and positive. – But we believe respect has boundaries, and when they’re crossed, it’s important to speak up.
Other issues included: – A rule requiring each person to order a main dish in order to be seated; – No change given when paying €100 for a €94 bill, without asking.
This review is not written out of resentment—but to set the record straight and help other travelers make informed choices. Disrespect, no matter how subtle or “playful,” should never be normalized.
