Dining at Achilli al parlamento was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. I don't normally go to the effort of writing reviews, however I don't want anyone to have to waste their money and more importantly time on this restaurant as we did. From the start, the atmosphere in the restaurant was quite cold and stale. After my wife, two friends and I sat down, having waited approximately 10 minutes to be spoken to, I had to take it upon myself to get the attention of the staff and request water and menus. When we asked about maybe purchasing a bottle of wine we were rather rudely stopped and told to consult the sommelier at the front of the restaurant having previously been offered no guidance in the selection process. The choosing of the wine itself was enjoyable, although a rather awkward experience. From there the food itself was nice without being amazing, despite a very high price tag. The food clearly over emphasised presentation, whilst lacking in appropriate portion sizes and significant flavours. Throughout the evening the restaurant was extremely lifeless despite a rather full crowd.
In summary, for the amount it cost I would recommend almost anywhere else in Rome. You would likely find a more enjoyable dining experience with better tasting food for much less cost in many other places in the city. It was a real disappointment wasting an evening...
Read moreI was greeted in a distinctly cold manner, which really should have been a warning sign for the shape of things to come. The food was mediocre at best - the fish tasted terribly burnt, some courses I skipped due to taste entirely such as the pepper dish that was horribly bitter.
On top of this, the pace at which the dishes were served was positively snail-like. The fact that the cheese bread was far and away the best thing I had speaks volumes.
The service continued to be perfunctory and unfriendly, frowning and distant, even with tables who were friendly and trying to engage and joke with them. The waitresses seemed humourless and looked miserable to be there, performing the bare minimum amount of social interaction. My glass was left unrefilled during my final course.
The tasting menu experience was literally exhausting and I had to keep asking how many deep we were because I just wanted to get out.
Worst of all, even though I explicitly said I don’t drink, they still served me a dessert with alcohol, which would be careless and inattentive even at a dive bar. They also did not even do me the courtesy of apologizing for this.
One really does expect better from any restaurant, let alone one that has a...
Read moreWow!!! Highly recommend for modern Italian! I wondered across this place and it was an amazing experience. Hidden at the rear of a wine shop was a very stylish restaurant service very high quality Italian food. It is a tasting menu 3,5 or 8 courses and the chef will adapt to you food desires and or allergies. I didn’t want fish and requested the 5 courses.
