Miriam & her restaurant are really a special hidden gem (Google maps brings you to the wrong end of the alleyway that the restaurant is in. Drive around the block to the other side & you’ll find it).
C'è Pasta e Pizza is a neighborhood restaurant in the Trastevere section of Rome & so it’s full of locals & not tourists. We were the only “out of towners” there. So don’t tell anyone about this special place 🤐😂. Go by yourself or better yet, take your special someone.
Miriam personally helped us, and advised us on what to order to better be able to experience true Roman Jewish food. We had never had.
From the bruschetta & crostini to homemade pasta to the desserts it was a feast for the eyes and mouth. Buffalo mozzarella has a much better flavor & texture than anything in the states. So special to be able to taste and experience dishes made with it.
The service was excellent. The staff friendly. The place has a great vibe & is relaxed & adorable. Just right for a nice dinner. You can choose to eat inside or outside.
This was also my first time being able to have kosher limoncello. And the intensity of the lemon coupled with the alcohol was unlike anything I’ve ever had.
So I advise anyone who enjoys getting off the beaten path & would like a really special Kosher Roman Chalavi restaurant in Rome (that’s not in the Ghetto). Head on over to C'è Pasta e Pizza. After dinner, ask Miriam or her sister, to tell you how to get to the most incredible night time...
Read moreThe food? Fine. We had gnocchi with mushrooms, decent. A very thin, crispy white pizza- good toppings. Dessert was a ricotta pastry. Nothing to write home about, but ok.
The vibe? More fast food than restaurant, but we weren’t expecting candlelight.
Now for the real entertainment: the server. Brought us food we didn’t order (multiple times), including a cherry-filled pastry instead of chocolate. When we pointed it out, after tasting it, he tried to convince us to just roll with it. Because, you know, once you’ve bitten it, it’s yours. Naturally. 🤣
The grand finale? Getting the bill for the table next to us. When we finally got ours, we noticed a mysterious 4€ “sitting fee”aka the tourist tax. The locals next to us didn’t get charged, obviously. Confronted the owner. First, denial. Then “oops, a mistake.” Then, “the waiter forgot to charge the other table, and now I don’t feel comfortable fixing it.” Classic.
We had a good laugh and promised them a glowing review. So here it is: if you’re into meh pasta, decent pizza, fast-food chaos, and being gaslit into beer you didn’t order all topped off with a little tourist tax surprise- then C’è Pasta e Pizza is the place for you!
Oh, and they do have the seating fee printed… on a menu behind the cashier. Not the one at your table. Very educational. Thanks for the...
Read moreI can’t even begin to describe what an amazing experience this was. Our tour guide recommended we come here for an authentic Italian kosher meal. Our waiter, Chen, immediately saw that we, as Americans who don’t speak Italian, were a little overwhelmed at the menu. Not to mention the fact that one of us was gluten-free and one of us didn’t eat cheese! He was not to be dismayed. He patiently took us through the menu in English and found us appetizers, mains, and desserts that were out of this world. He was attentive to us throughout the meal and always had his eye on us. I have never seen such service!
After the delicious meal, the owner offered to get us a taxi and enlisted the help of her daughter and chef (maybe she was related too?) who were all more than willing to help us out. While we waited, we chatted with the owner’s family, who were eating at the restaurant, who were so unbelievably kind to us. It was a unique, special experience that I feel privileged to have had while we were in Italy. We will definitely be back on...
