I feel like there are a few things that need to be more obvious about this place in the reviews. While this place may have pretty views (if you get the right table) and has very okay food, it is not a restaurant. This is a museum cafeteria. You cannot just come here to eat. There is no specific entrance for the "restaurant." You need to pay 15€ to get into the museum to get to the cafeteria. Did we pay it? Yes. That's on us. But, based on other reviews, i honestly thought this was going to be an awesome sight to see. After walking for about 15 minutes we finally found our way up the dimly lit staircases and steep hallways to emerge at the terrace. And were unfortunately not impressed. Also, i hate to admit it at the risk of sounding uncultured, but the museum isn't spectacular either. It's an impressively old castle, but that's pretty much it. Although i will admit i was SO entertained by a seagull who stared awkwardly at a table for so long they finally gave it a decent portion of their lunch. If you are looking for a rooftop bar/restaurant that you can easily get to. This aint...

This place is great to visit has amazing views and honestly has untapped potential but too much lets it down. The standard of service is a serious let down. I had one very nice waiter who done everything for me and was doing everything else for every other table. 2-3 other workers doing absolutely nothing only stairing at people or trying the art of looking busy. One worker brushed the same part of the floor 3 times in 20 minuites which was clean and another one was carrying around a card machine at least 4-5 times in that 20 minuites but taking no payments just walking to and from the bar. (I had a seat by the entrance of the bar and could see who was taking out food ect) Neither were running food or cleaning tables or taking orders. I’ve worked in bar and restaurant business for years and i’ve never seen anything like it. The place is in need of a stern leader in the service department to enforce fairness because one guy doing the work of 3 people is not fair on him and it’s disrespectful for paying customers. Come for the views...

I visited the rooftop café at Castel Sant’Angelo expecting a peaceful break with a view. What I didn’t expect was to be treated with such disregard by a member of staff. The café was not busy, and I just needed a spot to have lunch and do some work.

When I politely asked the waitress in black for a table, she looked at me, said nothing, and walked away. I remained patient, assuming she might be occupied. Later, my order was brought to another table by mistake. I calmly indicated it was mine. She saw me, yet again offered no acknowledgement and walked off.

Meanwhile, I observed her interacting warmly and professionally with other guests. The contrast was stark and deeply disappointing.

As an Asian woman, I will not speculate on motive but the difference in treatment was undeniable. It left me feeling unwelcome in a place meant for all visitors to enjoy.

The café’s location is stunning. The pizza was mid. But no setting can compensate for being treated as if you don’t exist. Hospitality should be consistent...

Where to start?... As soon as you open the door, you get greeted by grimaces from the staff who clearly don't want you to be there. Then you look at the menu and realized that there's no visible kitchen to create the dishes but you have hope that there's a kitchen somewhere on the premise. Then you order a margarita pizza, a coffee late, and take a seat in the tacky 70's decor because you are not allowed to seat in the beautiful terrace (which has seats and tables 🙄). Suddenly you watch in horror as your pizza is taken out of a fridge and thrown into a microwave. A culinary crime in the heart of Italy. Then as you eat your sadness on a plate you wash it down with a powdered coffee surrounded by waiting staff stating at your every mouthful. Please, I beg you, avoid at all cost.
