We arrived at this restaurant for a late lunch, at 2:30pm the place was packed. We were told only outside tables were available so we sat down at one of the tables that lined the small street opposite side from the restaurant, separated by an iron barrier. After we sat down, we were greeted by the waiter and he proceeded to throw down some cream colored tablecloths onto the table (though white tablecloths were already present) and he waived the hand motion for us to spread them out over the two small tables that we occupied. It was myself and my two young teenagers, so my older son began to help spreading out the linen. Then the waiter came back and stood on the street side facing our table and threw down 3 sets of silverware - literally “threw them down” as one of the forks bounced and landed up nearly up side down. While we waited for the food, the bread that the waiter specifically asked if we wanted (both my kids said no, and I said yes), never came. When our 3 dishes and a salad came, I noticed we did not have any napkins. I politely got the waiter’s attention and asked for napkins. He brought us 3 smaller plates. Though not what I asked for and it’s my fault for not speaking Italian, I said thank you as we needed them to share the salad anyway. I then waited for the waiter to come back around the next time and waived at him once again and asked for napkins. He acted confused and so I walked two steps over to the table next to us that was recently emptied and pointed at the napkins. The waiter said - ok, how many do you need? One, two? I replied “there are 3 of us so we would need 3”. Then, 5 minutes into eating our meal, the waiter came by and took away the oil, balsamic vinegar and salt from our table, without asking if we were done with them. I tried not taking the waiter’s attitude personally but at every exchange, his attitude was rude and strange … in a way borderline toying with us. I can’t help but notice the table of two who sat down within 5 minutes after we did, they had the same waiter, but did not seem to experience the same treatment as we did. The dishes we had were very good - the only redeeming point about this restaurant. We are a non white non Italian, English speaking family. I can’t say if this contributed to the waiter’s terrible attitude towards us … there are so many good restaurants around I would NOT go back again and be treated as we weren’t good enough to be there....

This was our favorite restaurant in Rome. Everything was so good and priced reasonably - less expensive than the tourist traps. The service was also top notch. We had a great time chatting with our server. Their carbonara is perfection. My super picky eater kids requested for us to come back here two nights in a row. My son who only seems to like ramen and pho gulped up the carbonara and he's now asking if he can have it in the States (which I know won't be the same). The next night, he wanted to try the Amatriciana and he loved that too. My daughter devoured her oxtail ragu. This is a girl who doesn't eat sandwiches, burgers, and likes her pizza with just cheese. She ordered the oxtail ragu two nights in a row. I had cacio e pepe the first night and risotto scampi the next. Both were perfection and cooked al dente. My husband and I also ordered Jewish artichokes and they were so good. I highly recommend this place. I'll be thinking about their food once we...

Da Romolo was by far the best restaurant I visited while in Rome. The atmosphere was amazing, the ambiance was one of a Michelin Star restaurant but the mood of people was friendly and light-hearted, it reminded me of a small family owned restaurant. The staff was very friendly, they greeted us at the door with warm smiles and laughter. We were seated promptly eventhough the restaurant was pretty full. The house wine was excellent and reasonably priced. Me and my fiancee were in the mood for seafood pasta but it wasn't on the menu. Our waiter told us he could special order it with the chef, much to our surprise. Our pastas were superb, noodles cooked to perfection steaming in a creamy sauce and our plates were overflowing with seafood. We couldn't have asked for a better overall experience, excellent service, food , and price. We were in Rome for 5 days and this was the only restaurant we visited twice. I highly...

Pictures from my few experiences at this restaurant. I must say this is my favourite experience in a restaurant during my few months in Rome. The food is absolutely delicious, the prices are reasonable, their house wine (vino della casa) is good and cheap. The service is absolutely fantastic. They are friendly, very effective and the service is relatively quick. If you want to practice your Italian, they will be very considerate and bring you the Italian menu and talk to you slower! The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. They also have a rooftop terrace if you want, but know that it is legal in Italy (as of winter, spring and summer 2023) to smoke on terraces, so it is very possible people will smoke around you. Otherwise, inside the restaurant is very nice too! I wouldn't hesitate one second to recommend it to anyone!

Ordered the carbonara, and my fiancée had the rigatoni with oxtail and tomato sauce both were absolutely out of this world. I’d been ordering carbonara nearly every other day during my trip, and this was hands down the best one in Rome. David, our waiter (aka “Cicco” which he explained means “chubby” in Italian), was fantastic. I told him I wasn’t sure what to order since I’d had so much carbonara already, and he told me to trust him with a surprise pasta. Turned out that surprise was still carbonara but seriously, next level. My fiancée got the rigatoni I was originally eyeing, and it was equally incredible. Service, food, price everything was on point. Easily one of the best dining experiences in town. Oh and the cheesecake was also deliciously good and a must try (also a Cicco surprise rec) BRAVO!
