COSTA PARADISO on Via Isonzo 6, is THE place to go for seafood in Rome!!! We were taken to this restaurant by a local friend and gourmet foodie aficionado. We tried everything in the raw menu, the shellfish was amazingly fresh and delicious, the oysters were of exquisite size and taste! the polpo alla griglia, the salmone marinato, the misto Costa Paradiso, the crudo Costa Paradiso, the Tartare di tonno, Scampi, Gamberi rossi, Mussels and clams, etc, etc. were all exquisitely prepared. This was our antipasti and only the beginning...and in food haven!!! For wine, we selected a Vermentino di Gallura from Costamolino vineyards, that we thought was an excellent choice for our entries we continued with Paccheri con Spigola (Jumbo Paccheri pasta tubes cooked al dente with fresh Sea Bass meat sauce, cherry tomatoes and a simple soffritto of parsley and garlic smoked with white wine), Bottarga (salted, cured fish roe) and fiori di Zucca (Stuffed zucchini blossoms), Fregola ai frutti di mare (rolled pasta cut into small pieces with shellfish in a delicious sauce) and Frittura di Calamari.!!!! A TOTAL FEAST FIT FOR KINGS! (and queens). to finish, we had a typical Sardinian dolce, La Seadas (Sardinian dessert par excellence. A type of closed pocket of semolina pastry filled with cheese, it looks like a large ravioli drizzled with honey), accompanied with Liquore di Mirto (Berry liqueur) Service: it was delightful with perfect attention to every detail, the course timing was A-1, Staff was very courteous and attentive, answering questions we had about the shellfish or other entries. With so much tourism now, it is difficult to find that true Roman service experience. the restaurant itself was spotless and very well designed. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a one of a kind...
Read moreI usually do not rate restaurants, but I have just had one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. We had a decent starter, therefore not 1 star.
But my main dish (I had the Taglioni) was super salty. Also I ordered grilled veggies as a side dish and the waiter forgot to bring those. When I reminded him, he reacted quite rudely. As I had wanted to eat my pasta with the veggies, I waited for the side and then my pasta were cold, too. So he took them away without asking although I had only had two forks and I was still charged full price for them.
I just recommend you don't go there. It is also unusually expensive for the area - and especially for the quality...
Read moreEvery dish was amazing! especially love the seafood risotto - I can taste the seafood flavor on each grain of rice cooked to perfectly al dente! This is the place I will visit again when I visit Rome again ❤️
Compared to other restaurants in the south west side of Borghese villa, this is definitely a hidden gem locals frequent. I also appreciate that the bathroom is super clean and toilets have seats attached - not a very common thing in Rome it seems. They treat customers like they would...
