Donna Cira - Ostiense — Restaurant in Rome

Ho deciso qui di portare 14 colleghi stranieri. Partiamo dalle note liete: il cibo è ottimo, dagli antipasti, alle pizze ai dolci. Veniamo ora alle note dolenti: il servizio, veramente pessimo.

1. Iniziamo sedendoci e, essendo i miei ospiti stranieri, avendo visto che il menù online non è disponibile in inglese, chiedo cortesemente dei menù in lingua. Arrivano due menù stampati bianco e nero su fogli A4. Quando ho chiesto se ne potevano portarne altri, mi è stato risposto che avevano solo quelli (a Roma è mai possibile una cosa del genere?). Per cui mi sono messo a tradurre agli ospiti i vari antipasti/pizze. Alcuni di questi si sono organizzati con i cellulari per tradurre, però potete immaginare il mio imbarazzo.
2. ordiniamo da bere, e dopo poco tempo arrivano le birre. I miei ospiti mi fanno presente che mancano due birre ed io gentilmente riporto al personale che ci aveva preso gli ordini che mancavano due birre. In sè non sarebbe stato un problema, tranne che la risposta un po' sgorbutica del cameriere è stata "io ho portato quello che hanno ordinato!" che suonava più come "i tuoi ospiti non me le hanno chiamate", tradotto, colpa nostra. La cosa è che può capitare che vi possano essere delle incomprensioni, però scaricare sul cliente quando si sarebbe potuto chiudere il tutto con un "gliele porto subito", sarebbe stato sicuramente più professionale... anche perchè al punto di dopo scoprirete che forse i problemi non erano dei miei ospiti nel chiamare le birre.
3. pizze: dato che il cameriere non parla bene inglese, al fine di evitare spiacevoli equivoci (vedasi il punto precedente), seguo il cameriere nell'ordine delle pizze per 2/3 del tavolo. Quando finisce di prendere gli ordini il cameriere viene da me scocciato dicendo che si trova 17 pizze (eravamo 15), tradotto colpa dei miei ospiti che non riescono a farsi capire. Allora gli richiamo tutte le pizze a memoria dei 2/3 del tavolo che avevo seguito e lo seguo per l'ultimo terzo...ed è qui che mi accorgo di un curioso fatto: il cameriere stava prendendo gli ordini di 15 pizze a penna su un pizzino di carta A7 o A8, con scarabocchi incomprensibili a me, ma a quanto pare anche a lui. Dopo averlo seguito quindi per tutto il tavolo per fare il check delle pizze, lui le riconta davanti a me ed esclama scocciato "16!". ovviamente io lo avevo seguito nella conta, e mi ero accorto che aveva contato erroneamente e quando gliel'ho fatto presente che doveva ricontare perchè una pepe e provola l aveva contata due volte invece di una, guarda caso i conti tornavano...da qui mi chiedo, non è che per le birre forse l errore non è stato dei miei ospiti?
4. dolci e amari: intercetto un altro cameriere per sperare di risollevare le sorti di un servizio pessimo. Gli dico che dobbiamo ordinare dolci e amari. Non segna niente e dopo poco ritorna chiedendo di nuovo conferma sull'ordine. Davanti a questa scena ovviamente i miei ospiti hanno riso facendo battute del tipo "ma la mancia per il servizio la diamo a te o a loro?" Ora al netto delle battute, le cose inammissibili sono:
5. assenza menù in inglese, siamo a Roma nel 2025, anno del Giubileo. Non c'è bisogno di aggiungere altro
6. ordini presi su pizzini come negli anni 90, che, finchè non portassero ad errori, va pure bene, ma se ne derivano errori magari è il momento di aggiornarsi e arrivare negli anni 2020
7. scarsa capacità nella lingua inglese e contemporanea spocchia e presunzione del cameriere di sala. Ci stanno le incomprensioni, accadono e fanno parte della vita. è assurdo far ricadere le colpe sul cliente. Spiace tanto perchè la dicotomia tra qualità del cibo e qualità del servizio per personale straniero è veramente forte. Sono a disposizione per eventuali chiarimenti perchè il mio fine non è affossare la pizzeria (ho comunque dato 4 stelle totali), bensì dare spunti per migliorare...

The last night of my trip I ate at this restaurant as I was living near to it. I forgot my bag there with some presents and this day I talked with them and they insist that didn't found anything. I was the last customer as they were closing so they for sure decide to STEAL MY THINGS. Its ok you can eat there if you want to leave money to thieves and people who don't act kind and helpful to others. I prefer always to leave my money to kind people and for sure NOT THIEVES. I see that I can't aswear you with other way so I refresh my evaluation. Before asign publicly my evaluation you know we spoke personally at Whats up. So I say it also here, I was the last person on your private yard. They were two men workers and one girl on the fund where I paid and left. I know clearly I forgot cause of tiredness my plastic bag with the presents on the chair. If you had video monitoring system everything would be clear. I understand also that is frustrating for your company to deal with such disturbing situation but it doesn't look good for you to be immediately hostile against a customer who doesn't have anything against you and just speaks to you with honesty about...

Disappointed by the service at this establishment and felt uncomfortable eating here as Chinese-presenting people. At the door we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, when we said inside the person said there were no more seats inside despite the place being 80% empty. Also, why bother asking if we didn’t have a choice? We also watched them seat an older Italian couple (who just walked in no reservation) on the inside.

There was also a clear difference in the treatment we received compared to other guests who spoke Italian. Others were waited on attentively and were offered drinks once they were sat but we were ignored despite calling for the staff’s attention 3 times. Eye contact was made but ignored, a neighbouring table of Italian speaking guests did help us gesture to the staff to get their attention.

I could write more about our unpleasant encounters but that would make this review as long as the Lord of the Rings series.
