Tako Sushi Ostiense — Restaurant in Rome

Food came out fast but was terrible. My partner and I came in and were told we can order “all you can eat” or just order per dish. We chose all you can eat because it seemed like the best value at $29 Euro per person. The first course came out (2 pieces of salmon sushi) with a bug on the bottom of the sushi roll. The 2nd course (grilled shrimp skewer) came out with a short black hair on one of the pieces. The meat (beef) came out uncooked and with a gelatinous texture and taste. Shrimp dumplings were not filled with shrimp but instead with a yellowish rancid smelling substance that hardly resembled shrimp. The bao was filled with 3 or 4 small pieces (half the size of a baby’s fingernail) of an incomprehensible “meat” which was supposed to be grilled chicken. Smoking in the restaurant went noticed by the staff and nothing was done. I hope I do not get food poisoning shortly after writing this as I am not spending very much time in Rome and would prefer to not spend the rest of my holiday confined to the porcelain throne. In the end it seemed the “all you can eat” experience felt more like a test of endurance against the vile concoctions set before us. Steer clear of this establishment unless you possess a masochistic desire for culinary disaster. I have never written a review before because I believe it’s impossible to please everyone to perfection and mistakes happen but this was an experience that cannot go without...

Rispetto ad altri ristoranti di cucina giapponese o cinese, abbiamo apprezzato la ricchezza delle scelte disponibili. Questa diversità culinaria ha aggiunto una dimensione di scoperta alla nostra cena, permettendoci di esplorare nuovi sapori e combinazioni intriganti.

Per quanto riguarda la cucina in sé, siamo rimasti estremamente soddisfatti. La qualità e la preparazione degli alimenti si sono dimostrate evidenti in ogni piatto servito. In conclusione, la nostra esperienza in questo ristorante è stata chiaramente positiva. Went to Tako sushi with my family, specifically for the all you can eat. Overall a nice experience, in a rather unorthodox and stylish restaurant!

Regarding the menu: While the dish choices correspond to the typical all you can eat sushi store, the food is mostly well prepared and tasty. For our taste, the fried dishes felt a bit too heavy and oily when eaten, especially the yasai tempura (compared to how tempura should be, light and fragrant).
