Definitely enjoyed the night at Elegance Cafe, but there were also some disappointments. A nice dinner for 2 and Jazz music was the intention for the evening. Upon arriving, we were told that we must purchase 2 plates each, or pay $25 per person for the music. Not that big of a deal, but made us feel a bit weird from the very beginning of the experience. We decided on some drinks and I love a good old fashioned and this seemed like a classy place that would do it right. 18 Euros for an old fashioned, but they didn't have the big whiskey cubes or any cherries that you might expect an upscale bar to have. Then we ordered the crab cakes. Presentation was great, but I can't say that I tasted any crab. Growing up close to Baltimore, I'm in tune with a good crab cake, but this was mostly filler, with no crab meat that I could find. Then I ordered the filet mignon with crab imperial and requested medium well. The crab imperial looked like they took the previous crab cake and cut it in half, them placed it on top of the steak. No crab flavor that I could tell and definitely not the consistency of any crab imperial that I've ever had. The steak was still purple and completely raw in the middle. I rarely ever send a steak back and can enjoy medium rare, but this was just too rare and uncooked in the middle, so I sent it back reluctantly. Presentation was excellent though. The music finally started at 9:30 and we loved the music. The bill came and 179 Euros. This was different as every place I've been in Europe, the bring the credit card machine to you. Here, they give you the check with a pen to fill out the tip section first. I'm usually a 20-25% type for a great meal and good service. However, I felt that every time we needed a drink, we had to flag down the staff as they were paying very little attention to us. This is also by far the most expensive check for 2 of us. Expected a bigger check as there was music and it was supposed to be fine dining, but was left feeling disappointed by the food quality and the original vibe of being told about the 2 plate minimum or else pay 25 euros for music. Very mixed feelings about this place as the music and atmosphere were wonderful, but for the pricing being charged, the food should be of better quality. I don't mind paying for a good drink, but would expect the bar to at least have cherries at...

The place lends itself as fine dining and charges 30+ euros on entrees, but neither the quality of food nor the service warrants such prices.
On top of that, unless you order two entrees per person, you are required to pay 25 additional euros per person.
They were so strict about the two entrees per person, it didn’t make any sense, and felt cheap of the establishment.
Even though we had ordered dinner and drinks worth above 150 euros between two people, they still charged us additional fees because we technically did not order two entrees per person. It was ridiculous.
During our trip in Italy, this bill was the second highest after our Michelin star dinner in Florence. 170 euros for two people.
The atmosphere is nice but the place was empty on the night that we were there. Only 4 tables.
Service wasn’t good, the waiters were often chatting with each other and not paying attention to us, had to raise a hand and keep tabs on them to grab their attention for more drinks, even though the place was...
Read moreNot recommended for those who want to listen to live jazz, it's more of a venue for those who want to have dinner and talk with jazz in the background.
As it was full on Saturday evening, the only seats for those only wanting a drink and listen to the jazz at the very back of the room, near the main entrance. It's a very unusual space to sit as there is a metal grill at eye level and you can't really make out the band very well. It's also a long way from the band, with 50 dining guests in front, clinking glasses and waiters running around the whole time. The whole experience is very distracting for those who just want to listen to the music. Ideally, there would be a space at the very front of the venue for those who just want to drink and listen to the music, not at the rear where you're so far removed from the vibe.
Having said this, the jazz groups they host are a good level and the waiters are very...
