EST EST EST is the WORST WORST WORST! Stopped in for dinner as it was close to our hotel. That was a mistake. While the wait staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, the food was terrible. We ordered some tomato bruschetta which did not arrive as advertised. On a dry toast, not slices of baguette & the tomato topping was not seasoned at all. Not even a bit of fresh garlic and just a single basil leaf placed on top. I ordered the Carbonara as most will on their first visit to Rome. This place I believe catered to people that do not know what a true carbonara should be. Carbonara should be a golden & creamy sauce of egg yolk & cheese. What I received was a grey Bechamel of raw flour that’s only flavor came from the over abundance of pepper. When a restaurant is charging enough money on their carbonara for an entire carton of eggs, guest should be able to expect at least an egg (singular) in the recipe. Do your research and do not miss out on a better choice because you are tired from travel and found something close to your hotel. I only took one bite of my meal but knew it was all wrong when I saw it. If you want a true Italian experience, I would recommend taking a cab to Osteria de Fortunata. There was a line out the door, however a small party of 2 like ours was seated within about 10 minutes. Worth the cab ride and the wait. I ordered my second Carbonara of the evening & finally received something worth traveling to Rome for! The pasta is freshly hand made, the sauce was golden & rich (you know, from the EGG YOLK!). Do not waste your money or your time in Rome at EST EST EST, it’s the worst worst worst! Photos are of Osteria de Fortunata if google will allow.

Stepping downstairs into this quaint little place was pleasant, the atmosphere cosy and warm. The head waiter (an older gentleman) was kind, friendly and very helpful - he really made my visit much better. I ordered the cannelloni, and green pepper filet steak with a mixed salad. The cannelloni tasted great even if the pasta was quite soft by Italian cuisine standards, then I realised it was stone cold in the middle and had been reheated but not properly. I ordered the steak medium-rare which could possibly be my mistake being from England where the "doneness" of steak may be different to Italy - it came out more raw than a blue steak so regretfully I had to send it back. The steak tasted delicious when it came back cooked much more to my liking although the cut of the meat was less like filet steak and much more fatty and gristly like rump steak. The mixed salad was fine, was fresh and came undressed so I could dress it as I liked - I didn't eat it all as it was bigger than I expected so the waiter boxed it up for me to take away so it wouldn't go to waste. Even though I won't revisit, this man really should be commended for his diligence as he's hands down the friendliest person I've met in the few days I've been in Rome.

Went for a quick breakfast before getting to the train and did the English breakfast. Can’t speak to the Italian food here but looking at the photos it looks unimpressive. The English breakfast is cheap, very cheap and you get what you pay for. If that was the only problem I wouldn’t be hitting it with this bad a review, but it wasn’t the only issue. The two cappuccinos we got had such a burnt pull of espresso that they were unpalatable. The cappuccinos also had steamed milk, but it didn’t seem like any attempt was made to actually froth the milk. Could have been honestly microwaved milk with how flat it was. I’m usually one to choke down coffee even when bad because coffee is coffee but was unable here. The service was mediocre with some attitude but not bad enough to complain about. The last item that was annoying was a 10% service charge that wasn’t disclosed before ordering. That is deceptive and tourist trap nonsense. Not sure if there is any entity to report that to but it was not appreciated. Rome is a city full of delicious food and experiences worth traveling across the world for, stay away from this tourist trap.

My family and I sought a gluten free restaurant to eat at during our stay and we enquired earlier in the day about options that they provided that were gluten free for members of our party. Est Est Est assured us earlier that day that they could do anything on the menu gluten free upon request when we arrived that evening, we found this was not the case at all and all they could offer was pasta. One member of the party ordered meatballs which was not clearly advertised on the menu as only being the meatballs on their own, and when it came we received 5 meatballs for €15 - €3 per meatball??? We were then asked if we would like to add pasta for another €5. How ridiculous, not only that but the meatballs were not as nice as anticipated in fact they were rather bland. Another member of our party has diverticulitis (meaning can’t eat food with seeds eg tomatoes strawberries etc) and when this was explained to the waitress our party member was assured by multiple waiters that they would provide green vegetables instead. When this food arrived it came with tomatoes, courgette, peppers - which are all the things our party member could not eat as we had previously clearly explained. Not only this but the chicken we had ordered with this was still raw on the inside and so the majority of the poultry meal. At the end of the evening when we hastily left the waiter used inappropriate language to express his apology for the food and he very unprofessionally threatened to sack the waitress who served us when clearly she did not speak English very well and as expected there was a language barrier. He also tried to help her in translation and still the message still got messed up. In conclusion don’t waste your time at salmonella central and choose a much nicer cheaper restaurant further...

Worst restaurant I have ever eaten in my life! When I arrived only one employee was on duty, clearly quite busy. After waiting 10 minutes to be served, at a table where they hadn't even taken the napkins and towel from the previous customers, finally the waiter arrived to take our order. Half of what we wanted was not available, we were told that there was no ice (it was a hot day in Rome and we had stopped for a cool drink). After ordering, we decided that we would not stay in the restaurant since we were not going to eat or drink what we were looking for. Not a minute passed between the waiter taking our order and me informing him to cancel the order. He said it was not possible because they were already taking our order, including the Greek salad that I had ordered was ready to be served. I said I would pay for whatever they were already preparing, but that I he wanted to leave. In my goodwill, I let myself be led by the waiter who was visibly overwhelmed by all the work. We returned to the table and waited more than 30 minutes to be served, including that Greek salad that was initially ready. More waiters arrived, we asked one of the girls to replace our towels and bring us new napkins. The girl did not say a single word to us, with extreme arrogance. The dishes when they came were greasy, the food was nothing special.

The waiters were inexperienced, some were arrogant, and the service was terrible! I have a lot of respect for people who work in restaurants, it's not easy, but this situation was...
