We visited this restaurant purely by chance as our intended restaurant was closed. My wife and I are so glad we did, what a great experience!. First of all, get there early unless you booked as it fills quickly. We were brought some crispy bread (that tasted of olives), cheese and honey. Croquettes were delicious for starters, but the pizzas that followed were simply amazing. This was the first time I have tried Roman style pizza and I have fallen in love with it, full slices of smoked ham and chunks of cherry tomatoes on one pizza with spicy sausage on the other, all on a crispy thin base. Wow! The lady that was serving us was lovely and ordered us a taxi to collect us. Another shock was the price, I think 8 Euros for a delicious pizza with quality ingredients in a friendly locals restaurant is ridiculously cheap. We returned 2 nights later for our final meal before we left Rome, and we were recognised as soon as we got out of the taxi by the staff at the door. We were led to a prime table and enjoyed another lovely evening. Hell they even ordered us a taxi without us having to ask. If you want waiters in tuxedos and glass chandeliers then go elsewhere. If you want good, honest delicious food surrounded by local diners, then go to Antico Forno a...
Read moreBad service and a terrible owner. We spent two hours waiting for a pizza on a Monday night. Yes, two hours. The reason? They ran out of dough. Fair enough, that can happen. But we were only informed 1 hour and 45 minutes after ordering—and only because we asked the waitress what was going on.
Meanwhile, we watched customers who arrived after us getting their pizzas while we continued to wait. We didn’t complain at first, but after exactly two hours of waiting, we decided to go to the counter and pay for what we did get: water, beers, appetizers, and our friends’ pasta.
The owner, in an underwhelming show of goodwill, knocked 2€ off our 42€ bill. Probably only the bin knows what happened to those two pizzas, which appeared a few seconds after we paid.
A suggestion to the owner: saying sorry is a simple courtesy, and next time, maybe offer the pizzas for free to customers who have been waiting for two hours because of your disorganization. Not that it matters for us—we won’t be back.
Usually Pizzerie are closed in Rome on a Monday, and this should be...
Read moreWe came at 12:45pm and it was empty other than 1 other table. It was nice since it felt like we had the restaurant to ourselves.
The owners don't speak much English at all but a lot of pointing and body language helped.
We wanted to order pizza but unfortunately they didn't have pizza available while we were there.
We ordered the suppli and fried zucchini flowers, amatriciana and cacio e pepe. We had tiramisu to finish.
The suppli and fried zucchini flowers came piping hot. It was really good. Not too oily. Batter was thin - would get this again
The cacio e pepe and the amatriciana were both cooked to al dente perfection. It was a bit too salty (both of them) but otherwise really delicious. The cacio e pepe had lots of pork bits in it and the cheese was just perfect. The amatriciana was saucy and savoury. The portions here are quite large so be warned. The tiramisu didn't have a strong alcohol or coffee flavour. It was really smooth and creamy.
Service was fast. The house wine was good for the price. Would only recommend this place if you...
