A Perfect Memory Made in Rome
Our dining experience at IL CORALLO in Rome was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled away from the typical tourist trails, this gem is a haven for locals and those fortunate enough to discover it. It deserves to be a top dining destination for anyone visiting the Eternal City.
IL CORALLO offers an extensive menu of traditional Italian meals, each dish crafted with perfect freshness and quality. The flavors are truly exceptional, with every bite melting in your mouth. From starters to desserts, the variety ensures there's something for everyone, all at a very reasonable price. In comparison, other restaurants we tried in Rome were average at best, lacking the richness and authenticity we found here. I would sell my soul to the devil for their Carbonara and pizzas – they are simply divine.
One of the standout aspects of our visits was the exceptional service, particularly from our waiter, Gaetano. His warm, genuine Italian attitude added so much to our dining experience. He was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, explaining the menu in detail and recommending the perfect wine pairings. Gaetano was funny and engaging, striking the perfect balance of being attentive without being overbearing. His charm and the outstanding food made us return for another dinner and lunch.
Gaetano's hospitality didn't stop at the meal. Twice, he treated us to a taste of the local liqueur on the house, making our experience even more memorable.
In summary, IL CORALLO is a must-visit restaurant in Rome. The combination of superb traditional dishes, outstanding service, and the warm ambiance makes it a standout choice. If you're in Rome, don't miss the opportunity to dine here – it's an experience...
Read moreHad fried artichokes and octopus salad and tonnaarelli pasta with clams and basil. Service was extremely friendly, they were even open around 5pm (when most other restaurants are closed until 7p because of siesta). One of the staff members even offered to take a photo of us. They were kind enough to seat us and even spoke English to us. We tried our best and spoke Italian to them which probably helped us against the stereotype of annoying American tourists. The fried artichokes are unique, never had them in the states, the vegetable is heavily fried in olive oil and you can eat it like chips once you peel it off the stem. The octopus salad tasted a little like tuna salad. Had lots of big pieces of octopus and the carrots and celery were fresh. As of now, I prefer this type of octopus salad because when we order it in the states, it’s usually grilled and majority of the time you can taste the burnt taste. They do use a lot of olive oil in the dish, but it didn’t feel fattening at all. The main course, the pasta, it was very al dente. In my mind, I thought that the pasta was a little on the raw side. BUT, I will be trying more pasta dishes to make sure this is the norm. If it is, I have a different standard to hold pasta too then. The clams were fresh and despite the dish not being a red sauce dish, it had tons of flavors in it. We did ask for some powder/grated cheese and the guy was like, cheese with mussels? In any case, don’t ask for cheese with mussels and pasta, it doesn’t go with clams. The cheese they gave us was different from the parmesan cheese we get in the states. I would recommend this place and would...
Read moreThis restaurant.. if there were michellin stars for the best Italian restaurant (Pirelli stars?), this place would get multiple.
We discovered this jewel on, unfortunately, our last evening in Rome. We settled down after hearing rumours that this place had potential. What we encountered truly surpassed our expectations. We ordered multiple antipasti which were all very tasteful. One, however, blew our minds. The melon with ham was undescribably amazing.
After calming down from this explosion of flavour (and after a couple of bottles of wine), we ordered our main course. Our selection varied from pizza to pasta to meat courses. While eating, we grew silent. If Michelangelo has reincarnated, I believe that he has done so as the chef of this restaurant. The special of the day was a ravioli with burrata, cherry tomatoes, shrimps and some amazing mistery sauce that has yet to be identified. If the staff of the restaurant reads this: please make this part of the regular menu. If somebody else reads this: try ordering it anyway!
After our main course, we could not let the dessert go by unnoticed. We had a wide variety of desserts and none of them were inferior to the previous courses.
Finally, after drooling over all the amazing food we had, I'd like to point out that the waiter was very patient, polite and understanding. Mirko, you're amazing.
Seriously, if you're in Rome.. go visit...
