Frigidarium is, in my opinion, very much overrated. Despite the hype, I found nothing particularly special about their gelato that sets it apart from any other gelato shop in the country. The flavors were decent, but they didn't live up to the high expectations I had. What disappointed me even more was the long line of people waiting for their turn. In my view, it simply doesn't justify the wait. There are plenty of other gelato places in the area that offer just as good, if not better, options without the hassle of a lengthy queue.
What disappointed me even more was the lengthy line of eager customers waiting for their turn. It's quite puzzling to me because, in my view, it simply doesn't justify the wait. With so many gelato options available in the vicinity, many of which offer an equally satisfying taste experience, I couldn't help but wonder why Frigidarium draws such long queues.
Don't get me wrong, the gelato was enjoyable, but it didn't live up to the high expectations I had based on the reputation. To sum it up, if you're looking for a quick gelato fix without the wait, you'll find equally delightful options in the area, making Frigidarium's extended lines seem unnecessary. Gelato almost the same anywhere...

I had the pleasure of visiting Frigidarium, the ice shop in Rome, and I must say that it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and the tantalizing aroma of freshly made gelato.
The quality of the gelato was exceptional. Each scoop was perfectly smooth and creamy, with just the right balance of sweetness and flavor. I particularly enjoyed the pistachio flavor, which was rich and nutty without being overpowering. The lemon flavor was also a standout, with a refreshing tang that was both delicious and satisfying.
What impressed me most, however, was the reasonable price. Despite the high quality of the gelato, the prices were very reasonable, making it an accessible treat for anyone.
Overall, I cannot recommend Frigidarium enough. The quality of the gelato is top-notch, the price is reasonable, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. If you're in Rome and looking for a delicious treat, be sure to stop by Frigidarium - you...
Read moreI went to this gelateria back in summer 2023. I was staying at an apartment in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and every day, as we wandered through the city, we would pass by this ice-cream stand. And every day, at any given hour, it was packed − dozens and dozens of people squeezing into this shallow, narrow street, all for a chance at a fine order of ice-cream. It was mesmerizing.
One day, after several tries of gelato and ever fewer days in Rome, we decided it was our time to be initiated in this enchanting phenomenon. This sacred ritual of ice-cream. And we queued up, just as we passed through − packing with dozens and dozens of people, squeezed in the shallow, narrow street wandering by Corso Vittorio Emmanuele II.
To this day, I still think about that ice-cream and that day. Any given day.
So, tanti auguri e grazie, for leaving me with a wonderful taste of Rome both in my memory and in my heart ♥️ The best gelato I've ever had.
