We happened upon this place by pure chance, because our accommodation was right around the corner. I saw the wood fired oven and decided to give it a try. We went there very early right when they opened, which seems advisable as they get full very fast and there are no reservations.
Basically the menu is just bruschetta and pizza and some deserts. The pizzas are pan pizzas for sharing which would seem normal to Americans but is really weird in Italy and Europe in general. You get to choose different toppings for each quarter of a whole pizza. was really delicious. The bruschette are really, really interesting, there are many different flavours and rather interesting ones as well, I might say. with the pizza wasn't so delicious I would have contemplated going there just to eat bruschetta.
Honestly, the best thing about the place was the beer. As we are Germans and not really familiar with italian gastronomical customs, we were not aware that you usually drink beer with pizza in Italy. They serve two kinds of house beers, a blond lager and a darker one, both of which are exclusively brewed for them by a craft beer brewery. I am a friend of craft beers, and I must say the blonde lager was really really nice and went really well with the pizza.
The place had lots of local visitors and got crowded very fast, which only speaks for the quality. Service was very nice and multilingual.
If I should ever visit Rome again, I will make sure to patronize this place again as we had a really...
Read moreFantastic pizzeria with so much attention to detail for what concerns gluten free options. Awesome fritti, bruschette and pizze (gluten free and regular). The option of ordering different toppings for each quarter on the regular pizza is a good idea if you want to try different flavours to share with other people. Great size portions, really filling. Nice beer on tap and desserts too (also gluten free). We had a pleasant time there also chatting to the owner, Fabio (with two Bs) who was honest in advising us on the right amount of food to order for a party of three. As the cherry on the top, we were gifted with a substantial bag of gluten free breadcrumbs that Fabio and his wife make with the hardened bread that is daily baked onsite. Fabio, I’ll be praying for an opening of Il Secchio e L’Olivaro in...

I got the spicy one, this pizza's texture is very different from the Neapolitan style. It's thick and the dough is oily, strongly crispy at the bottom. With the onion flavour, it bears a very strong resemblance to spring onion pancake in china/Taiwan. The heat on this was proper. Good balance between the ingredients, with the umami from the sausage and the sharp sourness of the tomato sauce, creaminess from the burrata as well as the sweetness from the onions.
It's too heavy for me cos of the oily dough but it's worth a try if you're in the area. Huge portion too, difficult to finish even a quarter (which is what they suggest you order when...
