Horrible experience, avoid at all costs Food was basic and very overpriced, lacked flavour. Portions were also very small The waitress though was the real one who brought this place down. When ordering she made faces and rolled her eyes when we didn't want to order any wine with our lunch. I ordered a bruschetta (thinking this would be their specialty seeing the restaurant is named after the dish) but was faced with some attitude from the waitress because this was only a starter. I feel that if I'm eating at a restaurant I am free to order what I please, depending on how hungry I am - was shocked how rude the service was in the first 5 minutes of sitting down. It got worse though as the meal went on
When the bruschetta finally arrived mid meal, I was tossed a plate of three tiny canape size bites with about 4 tomatoes and one basil leaf - all this for 8 Euro. I immediately sent this insult of a dish back only for the waitress to be calling me rude and disrespectful infront of the entire restaurant. She then proceeded to throw the bill on our table and make further shocking comments
All in all a horrible experience. Absolutely disgusting service and tasteless food - it's an insult to the Italian kitchen - the bruschetta especially which I'm surprised she wasn't...
Read moreWent here because it was local, did not check the reviews first, it was a long day and we just wanted a quick bite to eat. It was filled with Americans (which is fine, I'm a dual national and reside in the US), they have fettuccini Alfredo, French fries, and chicken nuggets on the menu, which is odd, but maybe you want that in Rome, still ok. However, the food quality is mid at best, the service is questionable, even asking for the check (in Italian, so there was no confusion of what I asked) they forgot about us; they offer things that seem like they are free (and are often free at other places) and then they charge for them, with no clarity on the price. To top it off they charge a servizio of 12%. This is not normal for Rome, who ever is saying this is normal is eating at tourist places (or fine dining). This was average dining with mediocre service. I had a bill that was more akin to a Michelin dinner. If you want mid food at a high cost and you like tourist traps with Americans who forget they are in Europe and are screaming loudly over dinner, then stop in, the food isn't bad, but there are hotels in the area that serve way better...
Read moreThis place appears to be a heavy tourist trap. (You can tell by all the other reviews by people saying "it was my first meal in Rome", as well as all the complaints about the excessive charges and exorbitant prices). I'll comment on the carbonara. It was made with a very thick noodle reminiscent of udon, but unevenly cut. The egg was already curdled and solidified when brought to the table. Either the cook used too high heat, cooked it too long, or used a microwave. Pink peppercorn used on the dish was a useless distraction from how poorly executed it was. A very poor balance of textures in particular. As for the gorgonzola gnocchi, it is hard to describe why, but it just made me feel sad to eat it.
It is also true that the charges are outrageous. For a plate of gnocchi, carbonara, and a single bottle of water, this meal cost 45 euros. You can eat Michelin quality food for two at that price in this country. I had to really try hard not to give this place one star, but I personally never believe one star reviewers, so to try to encourage anyone reading this, please, do...
