Water pipe broke in our suite bringing water through the ceiling onto the wood floors, ran to the front desk because there are actually no instructions by the phone on how to call the front desk. Asked them to send maintenance up immediately and to prepare a plan b, find another room to move me too because I would not feel comfortable leaving maintenance in my room without me there nor could I stay because I had a tour to catch. Not one person apologized, maintenance shows up, relatively loud, ceiling panel comes crashing down nearly impaling the housekeeper who came in to make the bed, husband raced over to grab it - no thank you. Finally it is all fixed, but now we are late for the tour. Ask doorman for help explaining to cab driver where we needed to meet the tour guide, it was like watching a train crash in slow motion, all I needed was for the driver to drop us off and say 'walk that way' nope, doorman tells the driver to take me and bring me back?!?! Doorman gets concierge who 'speaks English' who proceeds to ask me how my day is going - lady I am late please help me - yeah no, same thing, take her to the Vatican and bring her back? Now I know enough Italian, it is not me at this point, these two are just not listening to me. Go inside, ask guests if I can cut the line as I'm late due to a flood in my room - they say go for it, get the same guy I told water was leaking in my room, say I'm so late can you help me? Ummm now he doesn't speak English, sigh, now the hotel manager is here and wants to hear the story from the beginning, no please just let me go I will figure it out myself. She insists on trying to help me. Poor cab driver stayed, not sure why.
Part A - fire sprinkler pipe broke flooding the room, thank goodness we noticed and didn't just leave for the day, the room would have had significant damage Part B - late for tour, had to pay for missed private tour because they operate on time Part C - come back to room with platter of decaying fruit, two bowls of water and bottle of Prosecco, I need to get out of here - no tray to put this stuff on and like mentioned above there are no instructions on how to use the phone. Pack up this pathetic display and carry it to the front desk. Part D - have dinner at the hotel, too tired to deal with finding better - should have. Return to room to work, bing a condescending email from the hotel manager saying welcome back, hope you had a great day and 'you must pardon the language barrier from earlier in the day' actually no I do not and the language barrier is not the problem - a waterfall in the room is the problem, being delayed until missing the guided Vatican tour is the problem.
Not sure how often people go to Italy and have plans for a guided tour of the Vatican, for us we do not go often enough to sacrifice a day especially not when it is the fault of Marriott.
Don't think it is unreasonable to expect the hotel manager to actually care that problems with her property caused us to miss our scheduled plans. Find it infuriating that she is telling me to pardon the language barrier and hopefully I had a good day instead of checking in to find out if I even made it.
Dear Hotel Manager Flavia - no, we did not have a good day, no we did not tour the Vatican and no we do not have to pardon anything from you or your team, WE were the paying guests, it is reasonable to expect a dry, safe, clean room which will not negatively impact our personal plans.

My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary by spending 10 days in Italy during the summer of 2017. We stayed at the Rome Marriott Grand Flora Hotel for the first four days of our trip.
First impression was that the hotel was small, but lovely, and had some beautiful design details. The staff was nice, but not overly friendly. Later in the week, we visited with the concierge and I was not impressed at all with their helpfulness. The lobby was inviting but no one was just sitting around like they do in other hotels. I felt like I was annoying the staff anytime I interacted with them.
Curtis travels a lot for work. A LOT. And he always stays at Marriott properties. With each stay, he earns points and when asked if he wants a drink voucher or 500 points, he always chooses the points. Well when it came time to book our hotel for Rome, he had over half a million Marriott points banked. So he got us upgraded to the Presidential Suite. Cost plus points was comparable to a stay at any regular hotel. Wowsa. What a lovely surprise!!!
The Presidential Suite was enormous! By far the biggest space we've ever stayed in. In addition to the large oval-shaped living room, we had two bathrooms, a long hall, a separate walk-in closet, and a large bedroom. It really was grand!
Every window had a beautiful view. It's hard to describe what it's like to see ancient ruins right outside of your window. The Aurelian Walls run throughout the entire city of Rome and were built in the third century.
The bathroom was so elegant. I had never seen nor tried a bidet before this trip to Italy... and... I tried it and I liked it! Very refreshing, albeit a bit awkward with bum knees. My only complaint was that the open shower left a lot of water on the floor and even with towels down, the floor was slippery. And the shower stall itself was on the small side.
We were surprised to receive this enormous platter of fresh fruit, a bottle of Prosecco, and a box of chocolates from the hotel. We are traveling in style now, baby! Happy 20th Anniversary to us!!!
The hotel had some gorgeous architectural details, I especially loved the staircases. Just leaving the lobby takes us outside to the vestibule where cars can unload. Looking to the right we see the Aurelian Wall again. We were a bit removed from the heavy tourist areas but close enough that a walk or short taxi ride would get us there quickly.
The next morning, we went up to breakfast on the hotel's terrace. Wow! What a view from the top of the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora. We ordered coffee then went through the breakfast buffet. As soon as we sat down, seagulls came to investigate. These birds are much bigger than they look! And I didn't realize how close we were to the Italian coastline... it's less than 30 miles away from Rome. I was super impressed with the breakfast food at our hotel. We had a lovely selection of eggs, fresh fruit, fresh bread, and fresh juice. Nothing came out of a box or was processed. Delicious! We had breakfast on the terrace every day of our stay.
I was impressed with the Marriott Grand Flora until I stayed at a couple of other Marriott properties, including a second one in Rome at the end of our trip. If I’m ever lucky enough to return to Rome, I would probably not stay here again simply because the service was just good...

From the moment we set foot in the Marriott Grand Hotel Flora, the ambiance was that of classic Italian charm coupled with modern comforts. The building, perched atop the noble Via Veneto, is an ode to early 20th-century elegance, and the interior decor creates a harmonious blend of old-world allure and contemporary design.
The location of the hotel deserves special mention. It is ideally situated near the Villa Borghese gardens, making it a peaceful haven in the heart of Rome. The hotel also offers easy access to iconic Roman landmarks such as the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the chic boutiques of Via Condotti, all within a comfortable walking distance.
Our room was beautifully furnished, the decor subtly referencing the city's ancient history without compromising on modern amenities. We found the bedding and furnishings to be quite comfortable, and the view from our room was nothing short of spectacular. The hotel could do a bit more in terms of maintaining the room's fixtures, but overall, the cleanliness and comfort were commendable.
The rooftop terrace, offering panoramic views of the city, was a highlight of our stay. The restaurant located here, "Cabiria Lounge Bar & Restaurant", provided a top-notch dining experience. The menu, though a bit limited, featured a well-curated selection of Italian cuisine, and each dish was thoughtfully prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
The staff at the hotel were professional and courteous, ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process. They were more than willing to accommodate special requests and provide insightful local tips to enhance our sightseeing experience.
However, the hotel does have room for improvement. For instance, the WiFi connectivity was somewhat inconsistent in the room, which proved a bit inconvenient for our work commitments. Moreover, while the hotel amenities were generally good, it seemed to lack certain facilities like a full-fledged fitness center or spa. Also the ac shuts off after 6hrs of use. If you want the ac for all night, you have to remove the key card or turn off the ac wait 30 seconds and restart the ac. And it’s not that powerful. Most likely, you will sweat during the night. Which I did.
In conclusion, the Marriott Grand Hotel Flora is a solid choice for travelers seeking a combination of convenient location, excellent service, and a touch of Roman history. While there are areas that could benefit from attention and improvements, the overall experience was indeed satisfying. If you're considering a visit to the Eternal City, this hotel is undoubtedly worth...
