La Pietra Scheggiata - Premio "The best Carbonara 2024" — Restaurant in Rome

My family and I came to this restaurant during a trip to Rome and unfortunately, we did not have the best experience. The service was pretty good, I can’t complain about that but I did a lot of research trying to find a restaurant with the best carbonara pasta in Rome and we found this restaurant which had amazing reviews and apparently was rated #1 in best carbonara pasta the past few years. We were so excited and drove 35 minutes to the restaurant. Disappointed is an understatement, we came with such high hopes for the carbonara and were immediately let down. The sauce was very thick, almost paste and the bacon hard to chew. Majority of us were unable to finish our plates, which was so sad because the reviews were so amazing and we were so excited. So this place completely sucks. You're in an apartment filled neighborhood trying to sit at an angle. The carbonara is not bad, but definitely NOT Migliore! Every wine on the list was a thumbs down on Vivino, so we settled for the house Montelpulciano. Our son went out of his way to get us there, communicating with the restaurant to watch Italy V Spain match & they seat us outside 🤯. They take our order of 4 carbonara (2 split doubles) & an order of sausage. They bring out 3 and we wait. And wait. 15 min goes by and they ask how are things. We tell them about missing food. The plates are big, so I finish my wife's and we flag down the server and tell him to cancel my order. He says it's already being cooked. I say they're too late. They argue the bill, but finally make it right. Turns out the original server forgot to put the order in right. Lesson: don't...

Located in a residential area in Rome. As soon as you enter, you can see many car models and the decoration is special. This restaurant has won the best spaghetti carbonara in Italy. So a group of six of us came to try the food. It really did not disappoint us. The pecorino cheese was very fragrant and the bacon was very tasty. The pasta was rather soft, but we liked it. The owner was very hospitable and treated us warmly. He introduced us to historical attractions and reminded us of the precautions for traveling in Rome, especially to beware of pickpockets.
