As a "roman descendant" every time I come back home I try to eat pizza everyday. I love dining in Monteverde since its a quite neighborhood, barely steps away from Trastevere, where you don't get served the atrocities tourists eat in the restaurants by the city center.
When I came across this restaurant it looked very nice and tidy, so we booked dinner seats for 8pm. While I live in this neighborhood, it is worth mentioning that the pizzeria is very well located for people who moves around by car cause it's just a few steps away from piazza Ottavilla where it could be easier finding a parking spot (not necesrairly guaranteed but definitely you get higher odds than downtown).
First thing I'd like to say is that the staff was wonderful. When we entered the restaurant to book the seats the cashier was not around but the pizzaiolo promptly came to greet us and wrote down our reservation. Afterwards, when we finally arrived there at 8pm, we met the cashier: a genuinely kind and funny woman who was eating some slices of pizza by the counter. She was all apologetic cause we found her eating but she left the dish aside to show us the restaurant l, allowing us to pick the table we liked. While we decided to eat inside (coming from the Caribbean region we are not used anymore to the ottobrata romana temperatures) there was also an indoor garden available, which is quite a nice feature if you do not enjoy being at mercy of the noisy streets and pollution.
Less than 30 seconds after we took our seats the waiter showed up: this guy was the embodiment of roman hospitality, never made us feel forgotten during the whole time, he would arranged for us a pizza that was not in the menu and had an amazing sense of humour.
Now the food rating:
SUPPLI: they were not bad or uneatable by any means, but objectively they were the worst we had so far during our stay in Rome. The sauce on the rice felt a bit dry making the flavor less intense, the mozzarella was not quite melted and the rice was not al dente. They can definitely improve here.
PIZZA: I think it was the best pizza I had in years. The dough flavor was very intense and the consistency was crunchy but not "biscottata". Tomato sauce was very good, and they managed to cut the acidity of it without turning it sweet as some napolitana style pizzas around. Some people could argue about the watery cheese but for me, as long as the pizza is not drowned, I rather enjoy the flavor of bufala mozzarella over the unremarkable standard pizza mozzarella.
TIRAMISÙ: it was a fair one, with a personal touch. The mascarpone had a coffeeish flavor and it was very creamy.
Overall I'd say it was a wonderful experience. Awesome pizza and genuine roman hospitality. I want to heartwarmingly thank the staff for the memories I'll treasure and I'm sorry if this modest review can barely describe the best that the city of Rome can offer!

Read moreFood was delicious, the menu lacks a lot of info such as how the fillet steak was drowned in what I think was garlic truffle sauce. The bread was lovely but bruschetta toasted a bit too hard and crunchy for the thickness (can't really complain for €4!). Pizza was to die for. There were dogs in the restaurant barking and the table behind us had an unwell lady fainting and projectile throwing up which I know the restaurant can't help but they were there when we arrived and still there when we left 2 hours later. Had to go up to the front to pay which wasn't made clear and then nearly paid for the wrong table but double checked luckily. Probably wouldn't go again but only because there are so many other restaurants to try...
