Absolutely incredible lunch at Mama Eat. We are traveling with a gluten and lactose intolerance and were blown away by how accommodating and genuinely caring the staff here were — the best we’ve had in Rome. Right away, Maria asked us about any food restrictions and explained that they have a whole separate kitchen for gluten free dishes. In near-perfect French as well! She also spoke English, Italian of course, and Spanish to other customers. A fabulous asset to the restaurant! We got an entree, two mains, and fresh fruit to finish, all of which were delicious, not sacrificing on taste and texture even without lactose or gluten ingredients. We felt so welcomed — this was customer service at its finest. I cannot recommend Mama Eat enough, for gluten and gluten-free eaters alike. Thank you Mama Eat for a stellar time. This was more than a lunch, this was an experience!

Really amazing GF and regular food and service (SPECIAL thanks to our waiter, Sam)! We walked all around Rome, from the pantheon to around the colosseum to the edge of Campo di Fiori and more, we were tired, but decided to trek to Mama Eat and let me say, it was well worth it! Entire menu can be made GF, including appetizers, local specialities, pizzas, pastas, desserts, and mains, like fresh fish or interesting steak dishes. Kitchens are separate. We ordered all GF, zucchini linguine, bolognese, a cherry tomato and cheese pasta, broccoli raab side (che buono!), and a fresh salad. Also two very large helpings of cold, crisp sparkling water. Everything was perfect! This restaurant is also located in the Trastevere part of Rome, where the streets are quiet and the river right nearby.

Of the best Italian Food I have had in ROMA! But man these poor guys were so busy they forgot a dish, but gave me a shot to make up for it! hence why I decided to give them four stars otherwise it would’ve been a three star for me for service. Everyone was super sweet aside from them being super busy and doing their best. The wait was not too long as they have plenty of tables and got through everyone pretty quickly. The Caccio e Pepe was to die for. Frittura de Pesce was amazing too! Super fresh. Carbonara took forever to come out and the guanciale tasted a bit burnt. But was delicious nonetheless! Quality pasta and products! Thank you! I 100000% would come back! Just wish they gave them more staff so they aren’t running around.

Awful experience, we went tonight to this restaurant excepting to be impressed after reading reviews, and as good gluten free can be hard to find we travelled a fair way across the city to try this. The server we had couldn’t have cared less about helping us, we waited over and over for him to tend to us, when he did he seemed barely bothered to assist. I asked for a drink that never came, he took our order without writing it down and repeated it back to us wrong and when ordering the focaccia (dry, thin, unseasoned and not remotely focaccia) he rolled his eyes practically at getting me balsamic to pair it with.

The food itself was not remotely of the standard we expected after reading other reviews, we had several picky bits most of which weren’t remotely worth picking from and ALL items came dry, overcooked and with no kind of accompanying sauce whatsoever, so even the only dish half worth eating ( genovese arachini) became repetitive and bland before getting halfway through. Even ‘pizza balls’ we ordered were just dough with no type of passata to accompany And chicken we ordered was completely over cooked and dried out.

We also ordered the carbonara, an Italian staple and something which we expect to be a safe choice wherever we go, but couldn’t eat it, as the whole dish tasted like salt.

I even tried to tell the waiter when he eventually came over it was poor food. However he completely ignored me, so we paid and left very much disappointed

We ordered: the focaccia which was incredibly dry, needed more oil and garlic when cooking but the bread quality itself was okay.

The genovese arancini, was nice but for the size and type of dish it was odd not to have any kind of dressing or sauce.

The mozzarella balls which came out lukewarm so we’re already no longer gooey in the middle.

The deep fried pizza balls, not remotely pizza, just a deep fried lump of dough (AGAIN NO SAUCE NOT EVEN A SIDE OF TOMATO PASSATA). They were just bland...

While at first I was impressed to find a gluten free restaurant in Rome, my experience at Mama Eats left much to be desired.

The risotto lacked visual appeal and failed to deliver on the promise of authentic texture. While the crispy bacon added a welcome salty kick and the cheese complemented it decently, overall, it wasn't memorable. Not to mention the risotto came off rather greasy. I wouldn't choose this dish again.

The lamb served on a hot skillet with lemon and arugula had a nice sear and remained juicy. It was decent, but nothing exceptional.

For the Carillo Pizza the pumpkin flower was an interesting addition, though I've never had it on pizza before. However, the lack of sauce left the pizza feeling dry. It was mainly cheese, bread, and pumpkin flowers, which, while having a good texture, didn't make up for the missing sauce.

I ordered the caramel tiramisu, and it was my first time trying this dessert. The custard was wonderfully creamy and paired perfectly with the cocoa and coffee flavors. This was probably the highlight of the meal.

While food service typically is hands off in Rome unfortunately, the service here was severely lacking. My spouse received only one out of three dishes ordered, which was incredibly disappointing. The staff appeared overwhelmed and inattentive, with our server even finding time to text while neglecting our orders. We had to leave hungry and go to another restaurant to ensure my spouse got his fill. This negligence left a sour taste in my mouth, and I cannot recommend Mama Eats based on this experience.

In conclusion, Mama Eats has potential with some of its dishes like the tiramisu and decently cooked lamb, but the overall experience was marred by poor service and inconsistent...

FOOD: Food was delicious and I appreciated having the option of gluten free and gluten full as I am intolerant but my partner is not. The GF pizza was delicious, you couldn't really tell it was GF as it was nice and doughy. They were a bit stingy with their ingredients. I had a pizza with mini tomatoes and aubergine and they were a bit scarce, but the pizza was nice and the price was ok.

SERVICE: Service was not great. We went on a Monday at 3pm and it seems like it was the end of a shift. The waiter seemed quite uninterested and forgot part of our order after taking a while to order (he never bothered to write it down). We ordered 2 pizzas. One arrived quite quickly, but it took an extra 10mins for the second one.

We also ordered a starter which never arrived (although at least they didn't try to charge us for it). When we sat, there was leftover dirty cutlery which they didn't bother removing and they didn't bring new ones until we pointed out that it was dirty. I was annoyed that a £2 service fee was added as I felt like, this time, the service was not great.

ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant was small and although full it was not noisy, which was appreciated. It was decorated in a fun way with drawers as shelves with empty wine bottles and framed pans.

The staff, however, seemed to be arguing in the back of the restaurant and the front was almost always empty. By the end of the meal they had a new staff member who attended us quite promptly and brought us the check...
