Pasquino San Lorenzo — Restaurant in Rome

We read so many good reviews and the place was so crowded, we thought the food would be great, but... I guess we weren't lucky. The menu was in Italian and the waitress was not exactly happy to tell us about the dishes. We asked a couple of things and she looked extremely annoyed so we just choose randomly and asked her if the order sounded right to her. She said it was up to us, at least she said so in a decent English.

The food took ages to arrive and when it finally came... The appetizer was extremely salty and one of the main courses had the exact same ingredients and flavor as the appetizer. I guess the waitress had a good laugh since she said nothing about it.

The pasta was very plain, lacking flavor, nothing noticeable, just salty. It seems they used the same three ingredients for every dish.

I gave it a star because the white wine was good and very cheap. As for everything else I am sorry to say but there is NO WAY I can recommend this place. There is a pizzeria down the street with much better service and food and...

Absolutely incredible restaurant. Best meal we've had in all of Italy. I don't know why the rating for this place isn't higher. The food was absolutely amazing, the service was fantastic, and the prices were very good. The cheese chips appetizer might be the best thing I have ever eaten. I can highly recommend the cheese and potato heart shaped ravioli, as that was amazing as well. The tiramisu was the best tiramisu I've ever had. I don't normally get an appetizer, entree, and dessert. But you have to at this restaurant. The only fault I can think of was the pasta portion size was smaller than expected. They have an English menu available, but this place is not a tourist spot at all. We were the only non italian-speaking people in the whole restaurant, and there were locals already seated and eating only 30 minutes after opening when we arrived. We went to this restaurant on 2 occasions with my boyfriend (lunch & dinner) and we really enjoyed the authentic & tasteful set up of the restaurant (while most of the options around are tourist traps). The food was very tasty with very qualitative ingredients and also different options depending on your budget (pizza less than 10€ and more elanorated meals around 19€), they also offer very nice local wines. Finally the personnel was friendly and attentive while not being too present either. Good restaurant for a romantic dinner, dinner with friends...
