Regina Restaurant — Restaurant in Rome

My first trip back to Rome with my family and we went to this restaurant. When we walked in the owner came to us and she just pointed to a table for us to sit. She wasn't pleasant at all she put the silverware and napkins on the table without saying a word no hello or good afternoon nothing then she walked away. Then she returned with bread that restaurants always put on the table. Then the waiter came also very rude took our order on my wife and daughter order which was chicken on both he said do you want a side so both of them said yes thinking it came with the meal. Well when the bill came much to our surprise they charged us for the bread and also for the side of potatoes wow we were in shock why wasn't this explained to us if you order the side of potatoes you will get charged never a word form the owner or waiter. So this place is tricking the tourists giving them things without letting them know there will be a charge. Bad place bad food and even worst dishonest owners and waiters. Do not go to this place horrible and dishonest. And one more thing the waiter is a very aggressive person throwing the menu on the table and getting...

Family-run trattoria-restaurant that prepares simple, and generally quite good, dishes of Roman and national cuisine. An honorable mention for the roman-style artichoke, which they often have when it is in season, and for the polenta with ribs, which they only make in winter and only some days in a week. Additional information for foreigners/tourists: first and second courses are usually freshly prepared and come from the kitchen, but some dishes of the day and all the side dishes are ready-made (they vary every day) and are heated when required. Since this is a restaurant, unsurprisingly, every dish, be it a first course, a second course or a side dish, is paid for. The staff speaks little and bad English, the elderly owners not at all. If those who serve you do not speak to you that doesn't mean they are being rude, just very busy. I went there with my family for dinner and unfortunately we had to go to Mc Donald’s afterwards. We ordered pork chops and the portion was very small, we ordered sides of “steamed vegetables” that turned out to be only a portion of spinach for 4.5€, we then ordered a portion of fries which was still very small. The prices are relatively low, but you can’t make a proper meal with their portion sizes by ordering a main course and side dish. The gnocchi was well served though, so it might only apply to meat dishes. They also charged us 1.5€ PER BREAD PIECE (rubbery and dry) that they offered as starter.
