This whole review section is baffling and hilarious in equal measure. I almost don't want to write this review for fear of the inevitable combative response from the owner which i've seen on countless other negative reviews. However, I feel compelled to share my experience as I am astounded by the 5 star reviews this place has received.
Firstly, the "house bruschette" is a piece of somewhat stale toast with a slice of tasteless tomato. It was free so I can't complain too much. However, other people have described this as some of the best bruschette they have ever eaten. I'm telling you it's not even good.
We had a penne arribiata. Despite the menu describing this as being cooked with "strong chilli" the sauce tasted of nothing but bland tomato. The penne itself was nothing special.
We had a pork escalope in a lemon sauce which was tough and bland.
Both of these dishes were luke warm.
We also ordered a tomato salad. It was November so maybe not tomato season but they were bland. Once we seasoned with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar from the table, they were fine.
At the end of the meal we were given free chilled Limencello which was delicious. The highlight of the whole thing.
I feel I can't rate it a 1 star since the service was fine, the food all edible and well priced, and Limencello delicious. We cleaned our plates, but we were very hungry from walking around Rome that day (we quickly left after our mains to get more food elsewhere). Overall, coming in expecting the best food I've ever eaten and being served this, I was very disappointed. If you are after some delicious pasta or pizza, this area around the Termini station seems to be full of traps like this so please...

where to start...?
We were staying in the hotel Assisi next door. I'm really fussy, vegetarian and gluten intolerant, my mum can't eat onions or tomatoes, and one of my daughters has also just become vegetarian...
We popped in after an awful day, being robbed on the metro, being robbed by cafes near the vatican and being robbed by tourist agencies...
We sat down and just wanted sustenance...
We didn't expect some of the best cooked vegetables ever, we didn't expect to meet the cheekiest, funniest, stroppiest yet most charming waitress with a passion for photography... to be given free bruschetta, gluten free too, to have gluten free pasta, or, as my daughters said, the best pizza in Italy ..and then to be given free alcohol after the meal!
We visted on two consecutive nights, and each night stayed until very late, we also met a Danish family who had eaten there every day of their stay and for breakfast too...
If you visit, you must try as many vegetable side dishes as you can, as they are phenomenal, they really are, as is the caprese salad. I aked for a big green salad on my first night as I just needed something green and got the biggest most tastiest slad I have ever had, The next night I had veggie gluten free Penne al arrabiatta, with salad, and fried beans, and fried broccoli, the veg is sublime
To be honest, I was too langered to remember the deserts the wee lass gave me too much free grappa
Great family restaurant, great choice , fantastic quality and no stupid service charges.
Really enjoyed eating here, one of the most joyful memories of Rome.
(Ps: they also do a pizza with sausage and chips on it ...Wurstel e...
Read moreOk… I’ll be honest and I’m not the kind of person who leaves negative reviews… the service was very good. The servers were smiley and helpful. BUT that’s about it… I’m very surprised with all the reviews here raving about the food. The tomato sauce that came with the ravioli was subpar at best and I’ve had better sauce that came from a glass bottle I bought in a supermarket. The ravioli itself was definitely not homemade. The cotollete looked like it came from a frozen box. The portions were small as well. Yes they do offer complimentary bread and limoncello but who cares that much?? On the upside the aperol spritz and the house wine tasted good! Anyways, I guess I should not be that surprised given that the restaurant is in a tourist area…maybe all the restaurants around the area serve the same quality of food and that’s why they don’t care that much??
UPDATE: your response to my review only shows that you don’t care about your guests’ experience because if you did so you’d try to find out what you did wrong and this review was written. For other peoples references I have lived in Verona and visited Italy many many times so I do know what original Italian food tastes like (maybe that’s how I knew that cotollete SHOULD be white meat and not grey!). I recommend you keep serving free bread and limoncello and buying reviews because that’s the only way your business will survive. So sad to see restaurants in Rome like this one to not really care about offering a real Italian experience to their guests. Too bad I didn’t take any pics of the worst food I have...
