Lady at the Pasticceria counter IS rude, shouted at us to pay while we were ordering coffee at the bar. Normally we pay afterwards, I was surprised she was making us pay right away, especially when we told her we are dining in at a table outside. Barista is insanely nice, friendly, and does indeed make the best coffee ! 1 star for the lady (dry pastries, not that good) and 5 stars for the barista. His positive attitude makes up for the bad Pasticceria experience. New edit: we had a bag of other pastries on our table, same pastry lady (dark reddish hair, pony tail, older woman) pointed at it rudely and made a face and spoke Italian (which we don’t understand). Apparently there is a sign up front (written in Italian, not in any other languages) that we didn’t understand. We bought a ton of pastries here and coffee, and had a bag from another cafe we didn’t finish. The lady appeared out of nowhere, had the nice barista come out and tell us. Again he is the nicest guy , spoke English, love him. Would be 0 stars for the lady, still 5 stars for the barista Edit again: in hindsight, it was actually terrible because there were Italians at a table next to us that just sat down, and the lady gave them table service. Even though we specifically said we are eating “here” and pointed to the table, she still made us pay immediately and did not give us table service. She also looked visibly annoyed as she loudly called me to come pay while I was ordering coffee at the bar adjacent to the pastry area. She is terrible with hospitality , would never come to her pastry shop , would definitely get coffee from the barista - sadly, the pastry lady is the only option to pay. So if you order coffee, you have to go to her payment counter. Perhaps she is nicer to Italians and racist to...
Read moreWe visited Regoli Pasticceria during our final hour in Rome. Conveniently located near the train station, it was the perfect breakfast spot before catching our train to Naples. Our mission was clear: to try the best maritozzo in Italy. I'm thrilled to say that Regoli Pasticceria did not disappoint. The maritozzo was phenomenal, and the espresso paired perfectly with it.
This place is bustling, so it’s helpful to know the ordering process. Here’s a quick guide:
The Setup: There are two doors and two sides – one is the primary bakery, and the other is the coffee bar. While you can get a maritozzo on the coffee side, the supply is limited, so it’s best to start at the bakery side.
Step 1: Head to the cash register, place your order (including coffee), and pay (they prefer cash).
Step 2: You’ll receive your pastry and a receipt.
Step 3: If you ordered coffee, take your receipt to the coffee bar and hand it to a barista.
Step 4: Enjoy your coffee and pastry.
Seating is limited, but it’s a quick breakfast spot, so seats open up frequently. You can also choose to stand at the bar.
Regoli Pasticceria is truly wonderful and not to be missed if...
Read moreAn oasis when I am waiting for my hotel manager in a super hot summer.
Their Cannolo Siciliano is superb. Its wrap is crispy. The cream is not too sweet. The cream also offers a bit crunchy texture as there are some chocolate chips scattered inside. The chopped pistachios are also fresh.
Their coffee fizz passion also offers a surprise in the way that it is refreshingly sour and sweet without compromising the flavour of coffee.
Their ice cappuccino caramello salato also strikes a good balance between coffee, milk and salted caramel.
I also tried their seafood spaghetti. Their seafood is very fresh. Their spaghetti is al dente but can be a bit soft. Their sauce is just fit. Not too salty.
After all, nice pastry and summer's special from this pastry cafe. Also a delightfully delicious lunch from this cafe.
The place is clean. The sunroom is spacious. The attendants are friendly and diligent.
A place I would visit again when I come to...
