do not go here!!!!!! had a terrible experience here!!!!!! right from the start our waitress was giving my mom looks and acting like she didn't understand what she was saying when she spoke italian.

the entire time we were there they were staring right at us just watching for some reason. there were many other people eating at this restaurant inside and out.

we tried to ask for bread for the table and they said "you can have bread if you pay" which made it seem like they didn't think we could pay along with the stares we were getting.

me and my boyfriend asked for the truffle pasta (which was 22 euros each) and when the food came out they brought us the wrong pasta, it was regular fettuccine and bolognese. we said we didn't order them and the guy went back inside and came back out right he waitress. she said they were out of the truffle pasta so this is what we would have to eat.

they did not even ask us if we wanted the pasta OR tell us that they were out of the truffle pasta. VERY WEIRD THAT THEY PICKED FOR US. extremely rude staff.

the bill came and it was hand written and in scribbles, we could barley read anything. they didn't write anything by itself either and grouped everything together for some reason. i wanted to make sure they didn't charge us 22 each for the pasta WE DID NOT GET but there was no way. after reading other reviews, it seems they have tried to scam other people with the written bill and they DO have printed ones. wish we would've known this as the pasta they gave us was way cheaper than the...

Peppone has some quality items but in my opinion charges premium prices for sightly above average dishes.

We came in for lunch and were able to find a table for 2, but it filled up quickly so a reservation is recommended.

Service was European standard in terms of responsiveness, however the two men who seemed to be running things were arguing while we were there. They did nothing to conceal their negative dispositions but were never rude or short, so no harm other than a bit of a weird atmosphere.

The octopus and Tartufo Ravioli was good quality and nicely plated.

Unfortunately the Lamb was disappointing. Despite costing €25 the cutlets consisted mostly of bone and connecting tissue. The cooking had done nothing to tenderize the tissue, so it was stringy and nearly impossible to cut. Normally you can eat around this, but there were fragments of hard bone all throughout the meat. I was unable at any point to eat a piece of the meat without having to pull a bone fragments or hard tissue back out of my mouth.

All in all I've had these same dishes at other restaurants with better execution for sightly less money. It's overall a perfectly fine place to eat, but if I only had a few meals in Rome I'd likely eat...

Peppone was recommended by our Hotel. Food and Service was good without being great. However reason for ONE STAR came at the end of the night when we asked for the bill. Came out and when I opened the folder that was placed on the table the bill was hand written. I have been in Italy for 4 weeks and this is the first time I saw a bill hand written. Thought it was strange and when I reviewed the bill noted they charged us an extra €100 for the wine. I was showing my wife when the staff (who were clearly watching) came running over to say there was a mistake. Took the hand written bill away and 20 seconds later reappeared with a printed bill with the correct amounts shown. All apologetic and said it was an error. In my experience more like a ‘play’ at the end of the night to see if they can catch out tired tourists. So watch out for this and don’t accept hand written bills and always check printed receipts for correct...

Gorgeous restaurant in the heart of Rome. So close to our hotel. Amazing food, great staff and such a warm.and inviting place. Their Saltimbocca alla Romana was to die for. Although a dish from the Northern regions their Vitello Tonnato has a very special place in my heart. Their Cacio e Pepe WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. The authenticity was unreal. Even our daughter's pasta con burro was so simple yet stunning. Perfectly vooked pasta and generously coated with Italian butter!! Mama mia!! A definite must visit to this spot. Wish they were more liberal on their olive oil and balsamic vinegar drizzles on our plates for our bread. All in all MAGNIFICO! BRAVO PEPPONE!!

I would highly recommend this amazing restaurant. My family and I loved it so much we came back for dinner the following evening. The ambiance is lovely and so immaculately clean. The food is quintessential Roman cuisine cooked to perfection. Our favorites the Cacio E Pepe, Ravioli butter parmigiana sage sauce, Vegetable bechamel lasagna, but there is much more and the deserts are scrumptious from the panacotta to the Neapolitans and gelato …….all outstanding! And if you are really lucky you will have Viola as your server…she is a delight with her welcoming smile and outgoing personality. Buon Appetito!
