I was looking for places close to the Weston and this place popped up as specializing in Roman cuisine. I decided to give it a try as we are here to try local foods as much as we can.
Only two blocks away from the Weston (or the US Embassy), the restaurant sits on a quiet, one way street. The inside seems quite large, but as the evening was cool we sat outside on seats that bracketed the sidewalk. That does mean that men with flowers keep walking and trying to convince my husband to buy them for me, even when you ignore them.
They brought us out complimentary bruschetta and bread. The bread was delicious as was the bruschetta. But the bread. Obviously, it was made there. Thick, crusty, chewing made with whole grains it was full of flavor and depth. It needed nothing.
We decided on meals with sides and salad. Most of the meals are just the thing you order. If you want sides, flip to almost the end of the menu to find them.
The food was delicious. Tender. Exactly as described. The portions were lovely and we wound up full. We topped it off with desert and that too was a beautiful thing.
I'd recommend this place.
Do remember, this is not the USA. You are not rushed to order, eat, and leave. Wave someone down if you...

First night on the terrace: flawless service, smiling student staff, a relaxed vibe, and a tiramisu that could bring tears of joy. We thought we’d found a hidden gem!
Then came night two… and oh, what a fall from grace. From the moment we arrived, our coats were practically confiscated — apparently keeping them is a crime. Asking why? Don’t even think about it, unless you’re curious to see how fast you can be kicked out (no dessert included). Dishes flew out of the kitchen like they were late for a train, and the cherry on top: a waiter losing his mind because we stood up to pay. Yes, stood up. In a restaurant. To settle the bill. How dare we!
Special mention to the “rough and ready” guy who clearly struggles with speaking to women in anything resembling a polite tone.
So, if you value your coat, your peace, and even a hint of respect, stick to the terrace. And most importantly: don’t move. Smile, obey, pay at the table. Otherwise? Woe unto you — you might just get escorted out… after paying, of course.
To be fair, the food’s still decent....
Read moreWe had a very nice time dining here at the 29th of August, 2013. Upon our arrival there were a few patrons already dining, but when we were finished dining most tables had been filled. The price for the food was most agreeable considering the deliciousness of it all, especially since we ate all four courses and found that the quality was consistently high. We also didn't have to wait too long until we received our food. The staff was, much like the food, of quite high quality. The waiters spoke excellent English and had little to no difficulties explaining the dishes. The two musicians that played the guitar and the mandolin and sang in Italian added a lot to the total ambiance and were very enjoyable. The only negative thing we noticed were the salesmen. Bearing in mind the restaurants "off" location, we had hoped that there would have been no intrusive salesmen of, in this case, roses and random trash. They aren't negative per we, but the fact that they were permitted to roam around the tables...
