If I read the reviews on here sooner, we would’ve absolutely avoided this restaurant. Be ware, as our group fell for the tourist traps.
We passed this restaurant walking back to our Air Bnb. We were hot and hungry after a morning of exploring so we chose this place as it was the nearest.
An employee was standing outside and encouraged to dine in. All staff was friendly at first, but when it came to paying our bill they were lagging even after asking multiple employees for it, seemed like they were ignoring us. The restaurant space is small so we could tell it was not even busy.
Like other reviews, they charged us extra fees we were unaware of: 10% disguised as tax, the waiter also insisted adding tip since it was not included. We were told by a friend that tips are not customary in Europe and is usually already include in the menu price, so we were surprised by this. But we didn’t want to be rude so we tipped another 10%. The waiter also left a basket of bread on our table. This is typically complementary in the U.S., but they added 2.4€ for this on our bill. No other restaurants we went to in Rome charged these type of fees or weren’t transparent about additional charges as we ordered.
My entire group had their pasta dishes and they were all pretty good but not worth getting scammed for. There are many other restaurants nearby we would’ve rather...
Read moreAvoid, avoid, avoid this place at all costs. This restaurant is running a scam by sending out starter platters that are not priced up on the menu and not asked for. We were walking past this restaurant and we were looking for somewhere to eat. We hadn’t read any reviews of this place before we went in. We were seated quick enough and the prices on the paper menu seemed reasonable. All prices for mains were about €15-€20. However the waiter kept asking if we wanted to order off the menu on the board on the wall. There were no prices on this menu on the wall. We didn’t order off the menu on the wall as we didn’t want the fish options so we ordered off the paper menu that the waiter gave us earlier. The waiter then offered us a starter platter of some breads etc while we waited for the main course. This is the scam. The items on the platter are all charged as individual items and actually cost more than the main course. We were arguing with the waiter about the price and suddenly his grasp of the English language got very poor. We got €60 knocked off the bill but they still over charged us for what we got. Avoid this place at all costs and if you do go to a restaurant read the reviews online...
Read moreDeceptive. Avoid this place. My son wanted to order a beef filet. The waiter said the Tbone would be better because it would be cooked safer for his shellfish allergy, and added it would be cheaper. The steak should have been sent back to the kitchen. It was mostly fat and very overcooked. My son picked at it and ate less than half of it. Again, it should have been refused and sent back to the kitchen. When we get the bill, it was 85 euros, more than 60 euros more than the filet. When we questioned the waiter and told him he “scammed” us, the manager saw what was happening and made no effort to step in. Read the reviews….we should have. This wasn’t an isolated situation, other reviews had similar experiences (TripAdvisor). This is how they run their business. Also know, they add 17% service charge so not only did the TBone cost significantly more, they made an extra 10 euros in service charges over the cost of the filet, making the practically inedible steak cost almost 100 euros. Taking advantage of an 18 year old boy with a life threatening allergy is morally and...
