I gotta give this restaurant 1star, not for its food but for their dishonest practices against customers. In 2018, how come restaurants do not have a proper cashier to give out printed receipts well detailed? The reason is explain below. This is my third time in Rome, and I am very aware that you have to check well everything before you order anything. We ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce (€7), pizza with mozzarella and mushrooms (€7,50) and one litre of water (€3). I checked well the prices and I also checked to see if the services and taxes were included. The food was really good. Don’t get me wrong. The tomato sauce was delicious and the pizza was also quite nice. When I order the bill, the waiter came up to me with a hand written bill that had 4 lines: spaghetti with tomato sauce €8, pizza with mozzarella and mushrooms €8 and one litre of water €3. Total €19. Now try to think again why they give out hand written receipts. The reason is because if you catch them, they can always say they made a mistake calculating it in their heads and then they fix it. But if you don’t catch them, they get away with it. Our order was small, but imaging if you have ordered more food. To find out this cheaty thing would be more difficult. After this happen to me I read some more reviews and I haven’t been the only one. So for this reason they get 1 star. And be aware, the waiters are extremely friendly, talking to you and doing selfies with you. But I think they do that, to make you feel more relaxed and do not pay too much attention to your bill when you get it. Because at the end of your meal you wouldn’t think that you would get ripped off after being treated so nicely. I know I was only cheated less than €2, but it’s not about the money. It is about honesty and respect. And for me they have lost it all. So if you decided to eat here, be careful with the bill. Other than that, the food...

This is actually the restaurant recommended by the receptionist from the hotel on our first night in Rome. The outside seating was relatively empty comparing to the other restaurants on our way. We didnt take that as a warning and thought it was just a hidden gem lying on the side street. Once we were inside, it was like only two out of the fifty tables were occupied. But we still had our hopes up. The orders only came after the waiters finished chatting. I would only rate the food 5 out of 10. Then finally, the worst part, the bill, came. It was a handwritten bill with several numbers and no description. We asked the waiter about a big amount and another amount below the subtotal. Then he explained that the big amount is actually the sum of two dishes we ordered and the other one is the tax. He emphasized that is not service charge. Since it was our first night in Rome, we thought restaurants do charge tax and paid whatever it is on the bill. But when we left the restaurant, we took another look at the menu. The price for those two dishes are less than what he put on the bill! But it was just a few bucks and it was late at night. So we were like whatever and headed back to hotel. On the next day, we went to another restaurant and had some nice food. When we saw the bill, we were shocked. There was no tax! or I should say all the tax was already included in the price on the menu like other parts of Italy! and the waiter in nuova stella specifically said that was the tax! They already charged the cover charge and jacked up the bill so much more. Such a greedy sneaky waiter/restaurant!!! It was the worst experience during my 10 days stay in Italy. It simply ruined my...
Read moreDo not go there, it is a tourist trap! We were going with my girlfriend to a good nearby restaurant I found on TripAdvisor, but we decided to go here as we wanted to sit outside. The waiter is nice, he knows how to sell, very energetic and Italian. I asked if the tourist seafood menu is worth it as I read about this concept being sometimes a scam. The waiter assured me that, it is an excellent choice. The spaghetti with mussels were good, but calamari with only ONE schrimp were just uneatable. My girlfriend had a regular dish - pasta with salmon (without any salmon) which smelled very bad. In the tourist "bundle" there is also a desert, so I asked for it as they have forgotten. They brought me a lemon sorbet in small champagne glass with a plastic spoon in it. It looked like a frozen *. Even the neighbours were laughing. Be also careful when are you paying, they sum it up on paper and calculate in the head. They charged more for "bruscetta" even though it the menu was cheaper and also they tried to charge extra 10 € as they made a "math error". When I poitned out, that the sum is not right, they had to recalculate with other waiter and then they acknowledged their "mistake". Lesson learned, always read reviews before even though the environment seams very...
