STAY AWAY. I THINK THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES.
I had a very unfortunate incident here. I inadvertently left my wallet after eating lunch and, once I realized my mistake, I returned to retrieve it since it contained my drivers license, a debit card and about 400 Euros cash.
The first time I went the waiter who had served me was not there and the folks who were working the afternoon shift told me that no one had left a wallet. They made no effort to checking if it might be somewhere – which made me immediately suspicious.
So, I told them I would return in the morning to ask the waiter who had served me.
I did so, and the waiter told me he remembered me, had found the wallet (described it to me perfectly as a dark blue wallet) and told me that had given it to the barman – who confirmed the description and told me he had placed it by the cash register (where he said they always put lost items). However when he went to retrieve it he found that it was not there….which means that someone who worked there might have moved it (or taken it).
I asked them to look harder and suggested the possibility that “someone” might have taken it “by mistake” and assured them that I did not care about the cash…and all I wanted was my drivers license…and if this was found I would be immensely grateful.
I returned one last time the next day, and this time the waiter who had served me told me that they had found the IDENTICAL wallet in a drawer, but gave it to someone who came by to get it because the identity card matched the person who came to get it.
Although I think it is inappropriate to accuse someone without proof, I find it an extremely unlikely story.
The chances that “someone” had left the “EXACT” same dark blue wallet …which they “found in a drawer” after I asked them to check all the places that it might be…seem ridiculously improbable. Instead I think that the people who work there are not honest, are not telling the truth and are likely thieves.
I think that this behavior is shameful and deplorable and I invite people to PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT this...
Read moreWe might have caught them at a busy time. They seemed very understaffed. Took about 15-20 minutes for them to take our order but they were no longer doing breakfast. He went away and didnt come back for another 15 minutes to take our changed orders. We were told we couldn't make changes to items on the menu. We wanted were to add mushrooms to one panini and take away bread from the other panini. I ended up being able to order the food they said I couldn't order in the first place. Then the food took another 20 minutes to arrive. In total, we waited an hour for a panini and an omelette.
With that said, the food tasted okay and the prices were good. Lovely view of St. Peter's Basilica.
Staff weren't rude, just not accommodating. Would try again if we...
