I don't know why this place doesn't have 5/5 stars- I've been coming here since 2001 and LOVE it!
I recently ordered a few rosaries online including a brown, more masculine type rosary for a boy. Eleonora took the initiative to text me a video of the rosary because in person it looks more orange than the photo online. I decided to switch to a different rosary so I really appreciated Eleonora being proactive and texting me that video, thank you!
I also emailed about a shipping issue and Fabrizio replied to my email promptly and took care of my modification efficiently.
I think the rosaries at Mondo Cattolico are SO beautiful!! I came here with my parents when I was 20 after my study-abroad program and we bought a bunch of rosaries and souvenirs from here, I've always had a great experience.
Some reviewers complain about the prices but hello- MC has THE best location right INSIDE Saint Peter's Square- obviously the commercial rent here will be much more so presumably they will have higher prices. However, I looked at some nearby stores 1-2 blocks away, and tbh- the prices were higher or the same, and the selection and designs of their competitors were much poorer. I was really unimpressed with the other rosary designs at other stores. If MC really is more expensive (which I'm not sure it even is), I am more than happy to pay more for prettier designs handcrafted IN Italy and for their superior customer service.
PLUS, exactly because of their prime location- for us international buyers who order online, we get the added benefit of requesting a Papal Blessing on Sunday! I think that's just so cool. I am buying a few rosaries now for my family and having it blessed by the Pope and having the photo from St. Peter's Square to prove it is soooo cool and totally worth it!! I think it will make very special gifts with a unique, added thoughtful touch.
One other thing I'd like to add about a reviewer complaining about the margins these guys make on a bible (she claimed they make 83% profit margin). Hello- this is presumably a FOR-profit business. I must assume these owners and staff also have food, gas, and shelter expenses they need to pay for in their personal lives, so OBVIOUSLY they are going to need to charge a mark-up to make any sort of profit on their inventory. The reality is most small businesses are indeed FOR-profit, and not NPOs because people need to make a profit on their goods to make a living. Some items in stock have low profit margins like 5-10% only, while other items might have much higher margins like 70% if you're lucky. This is how running a business works lady. If you don't like the prices go walk 5 blocks away and get a cheap knock-off from China that's falsely claiming to be made in Italy. You get what you pay for.
I love Mondo Cattolico and will keep being a customer for another 60 years and can't wait to visit Rome again hopefully soon!! Great customer service and thank you guys for your help and all...
Read moreMy first purchase of Candles was incredible. Beautifully packed with a card and photo of Pope Francis blessing. This was just a week or so before he died. I ordered Infant of Prague chaplets, a miraculous medal and infant of prague medal (knew small but these were very small and the price exhorbitant for what I received so be careful re what you order) - primary issue: two of the IOP chaplets were broken, another one was missing two beads and Pope Francis was to Bless all of the items on Easter - I have contacted several times regarding the broken Chaplets and whether Pope Francis blessed the items (there was no verification in the box like with the candles) but thus far there has been no response. I understand with Pope Francis' death :(, the Conclave and now Pope Leo it is likely very busy but they are certainly advertising their goods and getting the Pope's blessing so I would think they could respond to me. Anyway...
Read moreI recently went to Italy for the first time and I had a bad experience at this store, I purchased different Rosaries and different items for friends and family, and one of the Rosaries did not have the cross on Jesus. I went back to the store and the same guy helped me to exchange the item since they do not give you the money back, and he gave me a jasmine scent Rosary that it's now destroying.
Make sure to check all your items before they deceive you by packing them all in nice boxes and fancy bags. The store has really elevated prices, they people that work there are really nice, but maybe they do get commission for the amount they sale because they always offer you the highest prices they have in the store.
I am not sure who owns this store but the sales agents make sure everything goes, regardless of the quality of the items or the defects or missing parts these...
