After a long morning exploring the Vatican, we stumbled upon Ristorante Pizzeria Castello with rumbling stomachs. The restaurant was a welcome sight and did not disappoint in terms of satisfying our hunger. The food was decent, though we are accustomed to slightly more flavorful dishes. Perhaps this is simply the Italian way of preparing food. As someone from the USA, I found the shrimp cocktail to be a bit unusual, as it was mixed in mayonnaise. I'm used to it being served on ice with cocktail sauce. The mushroom pasta and basil pesto noodles were both okay, but nothing to write home about. What truly stood out at Ristorante Pizzeria Castello was the staff. They were incredibly friendly and served us with genuine warmth and care. It felt like we were being treated as family. Additionally, the convenience of a nearby taxi stand was a bonus. Overall, Ristorante Pizzeria Castello is a decent spot for a filling meal after visiting the Vatican. While the food might not be the most extraordinary, the friendly staff and convenient location make it a worthwhile choice for hungry travelers.

I 100% recommend this restaurant. The staff and service were beyond great. I ordered a tomato-basil bruschetta (that was OK) with ravioli pink sauce, and my husband ordered a pizza. Both were tasty and the portions were enough. Unfortunately, my ravioli was served with parmesan on top, which I don't really like. I was embarassed to tell the staff but the waiter (Mostafa) saw me removing the parmesan and immediately asked if everything was OK, he then took my plate to replace it with a new one. The whole staff was super friendly. The owner even offered sweet biscuits and tiramisu for the dessert, which we really enjoyed. The tiramisu was amazing. My husband doesn't really like coffee, but he enjoyed the tiramisu. Thank you again!!! 😊 PS : the pizza on the photo doesn't have cheese because my husband asked to remove it.

Tourist trap, the food was disgusting and not authentic at all. You shouldn’t trust a place where they have people trying to invite you in. The only reason why we thought the place was good was because of the reviews which clearly are not true. We were seated inside where it was already very cramped with no personal space at all. The place could use some ventilation as well. We received a basket of stale bread at the beginning. Their menu was quite long making you wonder how much if it is fresh. I ordered an arrabbiata pasta while my partner had a calzone. My pasta did not have any flavour or spice to it at all. Just tasted like tomato sauce slapped on some rigatoni with a sprinkle of parsley. The calzone was okay, a bit burnt at the top and not much filling inside :/ The only good thing I can say is their staff is nice but you feel rushed to leave. You also get a shot of limoncello on the house. If you want authentic pasta or pizza definitely don’t come here. There are better places in Rome.

We came here on our 3rd night and I absolutely loved the gnocchi. My husband had the seafood rissoto, my son the chicken and my daughter had the pasta pepe. They even had chilli oil which I love! We all really enjoyed the meal there that we went back on our last night there again. My daughter and I decided on the same dishes while the boys had the sea bream. we then had the chocolate cake .. so delicious and the pistachio ice cream (so good). The waiters were friendly and recognised us the second time we went which I was surprised about. I tried lemoncello for the first time. It was very good and very strong! Overall portion sizes are on the large size for me but I think it was perfect size for everyone else. You can sit al fresco or indoors. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Very kind staff, keen on having people over, they offer you a seat and a complementary drink while waiting outside if all the tables are occupied (July now :) ) and trust me even if they don’t, please wait it will be truly outstanding food. Scampi risotto was surely one the best I have ever tasted, creamy, with plenty of meat not just traced :). Yes I am not an italian to judge but I did try it in many italian places over many years here. Kind, attentive staff, just like an experience from a movie. The tiramisu was fresh from that same day, and it was rich in flavour. We were gifted a limoncello at the end, but we ordered it, and a few dried banana chips before leaving. Amazing family owned restaurant and incredibly delicious. Mi raccomando!!!👌🇮🇹
