We originally made a reservation for dinner, but after looking at the menu, which was different than the one online, we realized we weren’t excited to eat there - the dishes we had planned on ordering weren’t on there, which is fine.
So we decided to order an appetizer and wine. It was really early in the evening and the restaurant was not full at all; we weren’t taking anyone’s table. We quickly and rudely found out that since it’s a restaurant, they usually expect full dinner service. We apologized and asked if we could leave but the waitress insisted on charging for water, bread, and service (3 Euros each) and she put in our order with appetizer with wine.
The wine was great, but the pork belly was not good. It was mostly fat, very tough and chewy and definitely not worth 18 euros that we were charged for it. All in all, we ended up paying 30 euros for two chewy pieces of fat, water, bread, terrible service, and a decent glass of wine.
Totally own that we made a mistake by thinking we could just do apps and drinks but the way it was handled was totally unprofessional and...
Read moreIts always refreshing to eat in a place where it is non touristy - that’s absolutely what taverna volpetti is, menu prepared daily. Food is very italian and hopefully you also speak and understand italian because they will not help you translate but does not mean they are not friendly. I still do strongly recommend going to this place. I had ordered the artichoke which was yummy, and the pasta matriciana was also delicious. The only downside to eating at this restaurant was that apparently one of the dishes priced at 25 euros, was not what i thought it was despite the plenty google translation that we did. As it turns out that dish was just 2 fried eggs and sprinkles of white truffle.... the people at the table sitting beside me started to laugh.... you know what it is what it is but definitely not...
Read moreAmazing food and impeccable service. I highly recommend the ossobuco which is flavorful and tender. If you'd like to try a more unique type of pasta, the fregola sarda with seafood and mint is a great choice. The desert of the day was a gorgonzola semifreddo with caramel and apple puree. The mix of salty, sweet, creamy texture and intense flavors makes for an incredible dessert that still makes my mouth water even as I write this review.
The staff were friendly and made me feel welcomed. They have good recommendations for the dishes of the day and wine pairings. They were quick to take the order and bring the food. Promptly communicated when some of the items that were ordered were not available anymore and suggested great...
