Was disappointed after seeing such great reviews on Google and TheFork, but had a very disappointing experience with missing and undercooked pasta.
Ordered: egg with truffle and focaccia carbonara with truffle gricia meatballs
Positives: The interior is nice and was air conditioned Service is ok, nothing notably good or bad. I did like that they cleared our plates and utensils after each course. I would describe the service we received as just trying to get the job done without caring about our experience. They would clear our plates when we flagged them over but if you ask for recommendations or questions it was a no go. Meatballs were good. They were two large meatballs and full of flavor Truffle carbonara flavor was great. A very delicate truffle flavor that was infused with the sauce
Things I didn't like: Focaccia was way too salty to eat on its own. They were out of tonnarelli pasta. At 6:30PM and there was like 2 other tables when I got there. I was a bit confused since that seemed like a pretty integral ingredient, but at that point I couldn't just leave. They subbed both pastas for rigatoni and it just...isn't the same. Egg with truffle: it's two eggs and one of my eggs came with a runny yolk, the other came fully cooked. It's also 13 euros and I know most of the cost is in the truffle, but it's also just eggs with truffle shavings on top? At least have the eggs be consistently cooked My gricia pasta came undercooked. It was crunchy and getting stuck to my teeth with a visible white core in the center. My partner's carbonara was perfectly al dente, but mine was under done. Tried raising it to the waiter but they said they didn't understand English. At that point I just said it's fine and they cleared our plates without pressing further why it was only half eaten. I was also seated inside and my data was spotty so wasn't able to even translate. Minor but we ordered one secondi which were the meatballs and they didn't give us sharing plates. Most other restaurants would give us sharing plates when we ordered just one dish for two people. A minor thing but when I was already disappointed by everything else I just wanted good service.
Overall pretty disappointed considering the high reviews so would not be able to recommend,...
Read moreBased on the extremely positive rating, the family of my boyfriend decided to invite my family for dinner here. Sadly, we were disappointed. The two stars are for the place itself and some of the foods.
Service: Biggest disappointment by far. Servants seemed lost and the communication might have been a struggle. We asked for wine and got only the most expensive bottles recommended (service 🚩). When we asked, which of the more economic options they could recommend, he just pointed again to the 65€ bottle. We even said, that we wanted something mid priced, since we were being invited, but the server didn’t understand us. So I pulled out ChatGPT to ask for a recommendation. 😂 After we ordered the “cheap” bottles, all service kindness went downhill. The red wine was opened next to us without any word - just silence. Absolutely unprofessional and left us with a really weird feeling for the rest of our stay. Messed up also orders, even the wine bottles. At least we got charged only for what we ordered.
Food: It’s a question of hit or miss. While the Amatriciana was pure bliss, the Risotto looked more like a sad pile of breakfast oatmeal with toppings, that were out of place (blueberries on a Risotto?) and bland in taste. Truffle carbonara was missing truffle flavor and the shavings on top tasted like paper. Steak and octopus were good.
Atmosphere: Beautiful and cozy little place. You feel like sitting in a traditional but well kept wine cellar. Has options also for sitting outside, but inside is definitely more worthwhile. Apart from that, the service affected the atmosphere negatively. But anyhow, credit to the beautiful interior.
I don’t know, if we just specifically got them at a super bad day. But price-value and service treatment… I can’t recommend nor understand the...
