Café Mémé bistrot — Restaurant in Rome

Students who use meal tickets: don’t go here. I go to an American university that gives the students buoni pasta (vouchers for use at various restaurants and supermarkets). Many of my friends said that they took the meal tickets, which is something we depend on as students studying abroad. When we asked the waiter if they took the buoni pasta after our meal, he said they wouldn’t begin taking them until January. Then my friend and I overheard the other server ask him in Italian if he decided to not take our meal tickets, and they laughed. TLDR; delicious

Came here on our third day in Rome. We were getting tired of what we felt like was heavy food (pasta, pizza, oxtail, etc.), so we came here to get salads.

We were blown away by how good the food was. We got iced tea, which was delicious and tasted almost like an Arnold Palmer.

At least for the salads, the menu doesn’t do the food justice. The baby spinach salad sounded good, but like every other restaurant’s spinach/feta/vinaigrette combo. The actual dish was by far the best spinach salad I’ve ever tasted though. The difference? Caramelized instead of raw onions.

Café Même is a good option for a quick breakfast and they do have an English friendly menu. The seating is limited inside but they also have outdoor seating as well. The service was quick but they’re weren’t many people waiting. The food was decent for the price and what I mean by that is it seems that some of the food, possibly the bacon was microwaved but the eggs and toast were made to order.

The main reason for the 2 stars is when our cups were brought to us, mine had lipstick on it!! I pointed this out and was quickly given another cup but it made me think, is this restaurant sanitary and do they make sure to keep everything clean.
