Trattoria Vaticano Giggi — Restaurant in Rome

Completely disaster. I have been in Rome multiple times, never ate food bad like this. Super disappointed, my mood in Rome is destroyed.

I ordered meatballs with mushroom, it’s completely salty, the meatballs are not fresh at all. For the pasta, I understand what is al dente, but this does not mean you can cook pasta hard as stone and tasteless like plastic, even the sauce we bought from supermarket is better than this.

We were three people, two of us have already had lunch. As the hotel owner recommends us this place, we come with expectation and full respect to taste the “hand made” pasta. We were trying to order two dishes first, then if it’s good we come again in the evening, but after the two dishes, the owner immediately shows unhappy on face, in the end the food also turns out to be full disappointment. Even though we live just in the opposite hotel, we didn’t come again.

We bring a thermal cup because my parents want hot water during their trip, but once we get in the restaurant, we immediately ordered something to drink. And we are not drinking from the thermal cup.

We ate up everything because we don’t want to waste food, not because it’s delicious. To be honest, if it’s in other restaurants, I will ask to return the food, but the owner has really bad altitude, I don’t want to waste my time arguing this.

Worst restaurant ever. Dont know how someone can waste money in this place or how this place is still working. First of all, when I reached there was a boy who hardly speaks english. I ordered vegetable lasagna because I am vegetarian since last 9 years. When it reached, it was having bacon!! I called the boy and told him and he insisted it was vegetable (as If vegetables nowadays were having a big piece of soft fat with a meat in the corner), and also the taste is very specific. I asked him to call the chef. Then, one lady sitting in the table next to the kitchen came and asked me in a rude way what was going on. I told her and she said it was not bacon. I told her it was bacon for sure, she took the plate, said that If I will not it I should leave. So much embarassing situation, DISRESPECTFUL people, wrongly prepared food, and not to say about the horrible taste of the lasagna that reached in 5min (probably it was not even fresh) and they DO NOT HAVE WI-FI. I do not recommend, there are much better restaurants nearby with kind people. Horrible place, horrible people, very poor and disgusting food. For East Asian customers, I would not recommend this place. We felt a significant service difference between us and the other tables in the room. From the very beginning the owner was rude, we were there at 6:30 when the place opens and the owner dismissively made us wait outside in the cold saying they weren’t ready to open without explanation. When we came inside, the service was also poor, he didn’t even take our menus away from the table after we ordered even though he did this for the rest of the customers. As far as the food was concerned, my friends and I all ordered pasta, I ordered the carbonara. It was all undercooked, and I’m not talking about al dente, the inside was raw.
