Spizzicheria Le Chicche Toscane — Restaurant in San Gimignano

I don’t know how this place got such raving reviews but when I ate here, my key takeaways were: Overpriced Decent Understaffed and untrained staff

I didn’t even bother taking pictures of the food but if I did, I’d be able to show their meager portions of their tagliere for 2 at a whopping €40! With just a few slices of 4 different meats and 2 different types of cheese. Their pici cacio e Pepe was super bland, panna Pomo fork was flavorful at best, and no bread!!

Service was abysmal as the waiter was slow and confused. I asked for bread 3 times, each responded by a pleasant “si!” But no bread ever showed.

We sat outside but when it started raining, the waiter said “it’s okay let’s see in 5 minutes”. He wasn’t proactive with moving us inside and then it started to pour!

All in all, overpriced...

Ordered the buffalo mozzarella bruschetta as an appetizer. For the main course, we ordered the "hunter style chicken" in a tomato sauce and the ravioli with champagne mushrooms topped with truffle oil. All of it was absolutely fresh, full of flavor, and perfectly-sized portions. They clearly have attention to details in preparing the food and delivering plates with great presentation. All of that gives me the impression that there's a strong chance everything on the menu probably delicious. Also, this restaurant is off the beaten path, which is great for anyone wanting to escape the main street with all of the tourists crowding about. We came following the high rating from Google but had a terrible experience. The restaurant was very disorganized, took us more than 1 hour to get our plates and we only received them partially. The other plates came after 35 minutes and by then the others were already finished. It’s not even that the plates were different or complicated, some of them were the same, but took forever to get ready… some of the appetizers (simple bruschettas) came before the meal, some came only after. All in all, I would not recommend coming to this restaurant. There are better options for the same...
