Eight Restaurant — Restaurant in Santa Margherita Ligure

Probably good food but for the price expect service to match... plenty of staff who most of the time seemed busy talking with each other (only one other couple dining at the time we sat down).

Came to take dinner order before even providing water or offering drinks - we had to prompt, then remind them again about the water 15 mins later. View is fabulous & we were looking forward to a leisurely dinner with a few drinks taking it all in... Bread was placed to table after that, but almost half an hour until the waiter returned placing olive oil, balsamic. Still waiting for our starters, suffice to say the bread (delicious selection) had been devoured. Then bizarrely an extra table was pushed against ours, when we looked questioning & commented were they "getting it out the way", they just laughed & gone again.

By now we were starting to question why our starters were taking so long when we could see the other couple up to their 3rd course????? Only to have all our dishes put before us at once. Straight away we asked why all the food & were they keen to move us out!!?? Seriously though, reminded our waiter he asked if we wanted at once but had clearly said no, just starters together, then mains together (as you would usually expect, right!) so there we were with mains, starters, side dishes all dropped - not even offering to take some back to kitchen for now even though we clearly dIsn't want it all, not at once!

So we moved mains aside & tried to focus on starters. Why should we be rushed. Then still no service from staff so we figured we should probably eat the mains before they were completely ruined. By that time fries & asparagus were stone cold.... chicken dish did not come with vegetables as described in menu but limp lettuce covered the plate. Eventually a waiter asked if all good, then turned away smiling even though my husband said quite assertively "well, no actually". He turned as if not hearing right at which we explained & he laughed then said he'd get someone... another 15mins later were still sitting there awkwardly (by now agreeing between us we'd go somewhere else for dessert & dress now) when they try to give us a drink ("no Thankyou, we'd like to leave") then turn up later asking if we would like dessert!!!! Seriously. Over it now. Bill please!!! Finally got the message & reason for scraping back 2 stars they ended up discounting the bill & what we ate was tasty even if not as any chef I know would want it served (ie hot!) & of course one meal was as the waiter said right at the end, probably a mistake (he didn't even know what was supposed to be on the plate)

Whole experience was quite bizarre & not like any other meal we've shared in Italy previously. Really...

Came into this restaurant with my wife while it was completely empty. The pleasant music and view of the water provided for a great ambience. Giuseppe was very attentive and helpful with his suggestions. He was always there when we needed him but never overbearing and perfectly courteous. Every dish we ordered had an interesting twist on the similar ones we've tried before and absolutely delicious! A definite recommendation for anyone looking to enjoy...

Amazing dining experience! Went for lunch multiple days and stayed at the Eight hotel so were often patrons of the beach club as well. Bilal made our experience truly amazing though. He was attentive, friendly, respectful, funny, entertaining and truly the best server we have ever had, even at our home in the United States!
