This hotel was absolutely delightful! Although the building is a bit older, that only adds to its unique charm. The staff here truly went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. While they don’t have a formal concierge, they were incredibly helpful with dinner reservations and offering local recommendations. The hotel is perched on a hill, offering stunning views, especially in the morning when the sunlight floods in. You can see the ocean from our room and small balcony, which was a beautiful sight to wake up to.
Our room was just the right size for us as a traveling couple—not too small and not too large. One of the best features is the hotel's proximity to town; it’s only a short seven-minute walk to all the restaurants, shops, and street vendors. We explored both parts of the Portofino, but staying at this hotel was the perfect choice.
Breakfast was wonderful, with a great buffet offering a variety of options, including fruit, yogurt, croissants, other pastries, cold meats, and eggs. There was also an option to order off a menu, which added to the experience.
They also have a fantastic private beach area across the street from the hotel, perched right off the cliff. Just a few steps down, you’ll find a spot popular with beachgoers—a stunning area to swim with crystal-clear water and a bar to enjoy drinks while taking in the view. You can even see all the boats floating nearby. The only recommendation is to bring water shoes, as the rocks can be tough on your feet.
I gave this hotel a 4 instead of a 5 because of the bathroom, which had a tiny, uncomfortable shower, and because of the overall age and upkeep of the hotel. However, I rated it a 4 instead of a 3 due to the outstanding staff, who made our stay truly special. Overall, it was a...
Read moreRoom: 2nd floor room with solarium instead of balcony was good but the room itself (sleeping area) is small with odd shape and weird architectural build! |Parking: allocated space parking just 50 feet ahead of the hotel entrance, then the bellman/valet will take it somewhere else overnight. Easy. |Location: if you get a view of the sea, yes otherwise think trice before booking any room without a view. If you love sunbathing and swimming in the sea, this is a perfect hotel for you. The private section for hotel residents is amazing. ||Breakfast: small Buffett with good sufficient options. Excellent fresh juices |dinner: very good seafood and pasta ||Sleep. Comfortable bed |Bathroom: functional small with excellent shower. |Small refrigerator in the room does not cool anything. |No coffee maker in the room, only electrical water heater for instant coffee and tea |Front desk old gentlemen are not sure how to put it in a nice words…. Let’s see …. Arrogant! Snob! Unfriendly! Tired! ||Value: 1000 euros per night is way overpriced for the level of this 4 stars hotel, you pay for the town name “Portofino” and the location. This is not a luxury hotel as I thought when I paid the steep price during booking, but comfortable enough that satisfied my stay in Portofino.|Rating and recommendations: 3 stars |I would not recommend it to my friends. Read moreLoved this hotel. Yes the rooms could do with refresh and sparkle! However, views are stunning, food was wonderful. Staff all amazing apart from 2 of the older guys at reception they were not interested i you at all. Young guy called I think Andreas maybe - was really cool and helpful. Gave us lists of local places. Hotel beach area and lunch place across the road is great - nice sun loungers and towels. It is a public beach and did get busy - sea is wonderful. Road not too busy but no pavements. Super pathway into the village - access to the path at back of hotel. Super walk into piazza and great views. Not sure why some reviews say the bathrooms were small. Bathrooms are ok and have what you need. I guess it depends what you are used to. The rooms were cleaned every day and were spotless. That said for what you pay they could spend a bit of money doing the decor. Would still recommend this little gem of a hotel as it had a nice feel to it and great location. How can anyone complain when you are in Portofino - one of the most stunning places on earth. Recommend the wee ferries cheap and cheerful. Rappalo was gorgeous. Great food...
