One of the best places in Liguria to hike in while being in complete silence surrounded by the nature and the sea. From Genoa it is about 30 minutes by train to reach the beautiful city of Camogli from where the adventure start. From Camogli there is a path where it can take you all around on foot reaching portofino. The path is of easy to medium difficulty and there are signs which guide you to the place where you want to go. Just don't forget to bring a bottle of water and a snack as through the mountains you will not find anybody. To reach this area from Camogli which ends at a point called " punta chiappa" you will have to talk the stairs up to San Rocco Church, it takes around 40 minutes then once you reach up there take rest and enjoy the stunning view while preparing yourself for the true hike. Once you are ready follow the coastal path and walk for about 15 minutes then you will find that the path is is being intersected by another path. One takes you only to Punta chiappa where it is really worth the walk and the other takes you to the old beautiful city of San fruttuoso and...

A truly stunning park, on par with the Cinque Terre one, which one cannot avoid visiting during a holiday in Liguria. It comprises several well preserved paths, accurately signalled, which cross typical Mediterranean vegetation and lead to breathtaking panoramic points or beaches with clear water. The places I recommend above all are the war bunkers ('Batterie'), where incredible sunsets over the sea can be admired, the small rocky peninsula of Punta Chiappa, and the ancient abbey and beach in San Fruttuoso, where the famous underwater statue Cristo degli Abissi also is. The park can be reached by the train stations of Camogli or Santa Margherita: some paths start from these two towns, and otherwise it is possible to take a bus to either San Rocco or Portofino or a boat to Punta Chiappa and San Fruttuoso. If it's summer, take a swimsuit (and expect a bit of crowd in the most popular and touristic locations, San Fruttuoso and Portofino, especially on weekends). Refer to the website of the park for a detailed explanation...

Had an amazing time at the free beach, definitely recommend it! Also, when you enter the water and look back, it's an spectacular view with greeneries and flowers on the hill (at least during summer). To get there: right after you pass the Castle entryway, still on the main path, there is a bifurcation, the path on the left takes you to the beach, you have to go down some steps but nothing risky.

Very picturesque and quaint little town, worth a visit if you're visiting Liguria. It is a popular destination and caters more towards those with a bit more money to splash out so be aware that prices can be a little bit higher than other places in the region.
