During our visit to Portofino from the US, my family and I decided to have lunch at La Gritta after a day of exploring. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by what appeared to be the owner or manager, who kindly offered us a seat. He promptly took our drink orders and returned to take our lunch selections.

Although we felt a little rushed at times, the overall experience was pleasant. Unsure of what to order, I turned to my brother-in-law, who is Italian, for guidance. After a brief conversation with my sister-in-law, she suggested I try the fish, which I happily ordered. My husband and son opted for pasta dishes, as did my brother-in-law. We all found the food to be quite enjoyable.

The weather was lovely, making our outdoor seating even more delightful. After our meal, we indulged in coffee. We used the restroom during our visit, and I was pleased to find it clean and well-maintained. I’m not certain about the total bill, as my brother-in-law took care of it, but overall, we had a great meal and...

A must in Portofino! how is this place not rated higher?!

We come to Portofino once a year from New York, and La Gritta is always on our list. We’re not full-time locals, but we feel like it when we’re here—and this place feels like part of our summer tradition.

The food is insanely good like, truly unforgettable. The pasta is the kind you daydream about long after the trip is over. The vibe is fun, relaxed, and full of life. And the service? So warm and genuine. It’s the kind of spot where you instantly feel taken care of.

I only found out about the low reviews because I was telling a friend to go and I actually had to double check the page because I was like, wait… what?! A 2.5 star rating makes no sense. It’s like we ate at a completely different restaurant than those reviewers.

If you’re in Portofino and want delicious food, a great atmosphere, and a place that just gets it right go to La Gritta. Trust me. You’ll be so...

Long story short, these two stars are solely due to the staff’s pleasantness and good mood.

This restaurant shouldn’t deserve a place in Portofino’s beautiful and exquisite piazzeta. It plays loud and obnoxious radio pop music, and when asked to lower the volume so we could hear our table’s conversation the owner started brandishing insults in Italian while pointing at us. Even though the staff were gladly agreed with the multiple customers that were constantly complaining and changing tables to be as far as possible from the loud speaker.

The food was good but DID NOT correspond to the prices, neither in quality nor in portions!!

Once again, we were very pleasantly treated and served by La Gritta’s nice waiters and waitresses, but the price-quality/quantity ratio is something to forget and the rudeness of the restaurants owner and the horribly loud and distasteful music sins deeply into Portofino’s...

We wanted to try an Italian pizza so we decided to stop here. Of course without looking at the menu or prices. The pizzas tasted of nothing but tomato. Actually some of the worst homemade pizzas I've tried. Also I drank here possibly the world most expensive NESTEA/ICETEA =14€. Total bill came to 121€ cutlery for x5 persons =25€ 2x pizza 50€ X1 cocacola 14€ X1 nestea 14€ X2 cappuccino =18€ Certainly a special place to dine at but this is robbery. Made our portofino experience not so happy. Just avoid. Also unfortunately my mother fell from the floating Dock towards the ground, luckily unhurt and what I think was the manager or owner reacted angrily at us fir not waiting for them to hold the rope. Didn't ask if she was OK just shouted in Italian with an angry face, what I say to him is learn some manners and stay out if hospitality.

Absolutely horrible and extortionate place. Here you will lose money and your good mood. This is a robbery of tourists. The prices are very high, the check includes something you did not ask for or you were not warned that it will be charged. The portions are small, the food is tasteless, the waiters look like thugs, as does the restaurant manager. The tables and chairs are dirty. Our check included a table service fee of 15 Euros and bad water for 10 Euros. Therefore, we paid 25 Euros more than we expected. We wanted to call the police for fraud, but decided our time was more valuable. Absolutely unscrupulous and dishonest owner of the establishment. From now on, I will always look at reviews and ratings on Google before ordering anything from a restaurant.
