During our visit to Portofino from the US, my family and I decided to have lunch at La Gritta after a day of exploring. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by what appeared to be the owner or manager, who kindly offered us a seat. He promptly took our drink orders and returned to take our lunch selections.
Although we felt a little rushed at times, the overall experience was pleasant. Unsure of what to order, I turned to my brother-in-law, who is Italian, for guidance. After a brief conversation with my sister-in-law, she suggested I try the fish, which I happily ordered. My husband and son opted for pasta dishes, as did my brother-in-law. We all found the food to be quite enjoyable.
The weather was lovely, making our outdoor seating even more delightful. After our meal, we indulged in coffee. We used the restroom during our visit, and I was pleased to find it clean and well-maintained. Iām not certain about the total bill, as my brother-in-law took care of it, but overall, we had a great meal and...

We come to Portofino once a year from New York, and La Gritta is always on our list. Weāre not full-time locals, but we feel like it when weāre hereāand this place feels like part of our summer tradition.
The food is insanely good like, truly unforgettable. The pasta is the kind you daydream about long after the trip is over. The vibe is fun, relaxed, and full of life. And the service? So warm and genuine. Itās the kind of spot where you instantly feel taken care of.
I only found out about the low reviews because I was telling a friend to go and I actually had to double check the page because I was like, wait⦠what?! A 2.5 star rating makes no sense. Itās like we ate at a completely different restaurant than those reviewers.
If youāre in Portofino and want delicious food, a great atmosphere, and a place that just gets it right go to La Gritta. Trust me. Youāll be so...

This restaurant shouldnāt deserve a place in Portofinoās beautiful and exquisite piazzeta. It plays loud and obnoxious radio pop music, and when asked to lower the volume so we could hear our tableās conversation the owner started brandishing insults in Italian while pointing at us. Even though the staff were gladly agreed with the multiple customers that were constantly complaining and changing tables to be as far as possible from the loud speaker.
The food was good but DID NOT correspond to the prices, neither in quality nor in portions!!
Once again, we were very pleasantly treated and served by La Grittaās nice waiters and waitresses, but the price-quality/quantity ratio is something to forget and the rudeness of the restaurants owner and the horribly loud and distasteful music sins deeply into Portofinoās...
