Panificio Dama — Restaurant in Santa Margherita Ligure

This town is a real gem. Wonderful people, great restaurants and equally great bakeries. And this place here is a good bakery to get some patisserie and homemade cakes.

On that rainy day we bought a couple of small patisseries - all very good - and three smaller slices of three different cakes. And two of them were especially good. They had some nuts and what I assume poppy seeds in them. Combined with jam and sour berries. It's a really good mix of nutty and sour flavours. And also quite filling.

It's the kind of stuff you want to find and try when travelling. Something different, something that doesn't come of a mainstream producer. And that's definitely the case here. The patisserie was good, but it's the cakes that makes this place very special.

We clearly got scammed with prices there! 6 pieces of focaccia + cake/biscuit (17 euros) and a small cake for a total 58 Euros! The receipt had some strange positions of 30+28 EUR, no weight (but the prices there are listed by weight), no cake for 17 euros, impossible to check. Be careful with this place and check what you pay for. Been there twice. The first lady was very correct, the second time was a complete disappointment. Paid double for more or less similar...

We were soaking wet from the rain and starving for lunch. Went into this bakery and the pizza looked very appealing. We got a margarita and aubergine slices, so flavourful. My wife was going to get a sweet treat but decided against it then one of the ladies behind the counter gave us 2 free samples of an almond sweet treat. So kind and service was fantastic!
