Wow. This restaurant is an incredible hidden gem. I have never tasted flavors in a dish like what I experienced when dining at Enzo e Sonia. I can’t recall the last time I had goosebumps from such a complementary palette on my tastebuds - but this place did it to me with nearly every bite. Enzo and Sonia run this restaurant themselves, and it is evident that they put the absolute utmost care and perfection into everything that they serve.
Enzo recommended that I try the beef special, and it was served with a variety of sides, sauces, and accoutrements that took my tongue on a journey. The dish was made with fresh herbs grown at the restaurant. When Enzo was describing the green sauce to me when making suggestions, he searched for a signature herb used in the sauce and picked a leaf for me to smell - he was proud of his sauce and excited to share with me the inputs that went into it. There were these flavor combinations in the dish that I cannot describe which I have never tasted like this before.
These fabulous restaurant owners are more than just extraordinary chefs - they are magicians in the kitchen. Usually, and especially when traveling, I like to continue trying new places - but I will be honest… for the remainder of my time spent in Siena, I plan to dine at Enzo e Sonia every night. I have tried a lot of places, and I confidently will place this amongst the best I have ever had.
Truly an incredible experience. A must try. Food which I will remember for all of my days. If I ever return to this town, it will be because of Enzo e Sonia. What this place serves should frighten other restaurants which are Michelin recognized, because they are outmatched by the quality of Enzo e Sonia, in my humble opinion. What a magnificent, wondrous, very special...
Read moreThe restaurant runs by husband and wife Enzo y Sonia and it was a welcoming experience.
This is by far one of the best restaurants in Siena and probably including Florence too.
The truffle veal was very tender and melt in your mouth. It is full of flavorful. Highly recommend this dish. It comes with salad on the side and mashed potatoes:
Another highly recommended dish is Osso Buco. The meat is soft and the tomato reduction is just perfect. This comes with perfectly cooked potatoes and some mashed potatoes. This is one of the best Osso Buco I ever had.
If you are visiting Siena for the day, swing by to enjoy a nice lunch here and away from the crowded restaurants near the Duomo area.
The price you paid for the large amount of food is just totally worth it, not to mention getting one of the best food in Siena. In the States, this meal would have easily cost $90 including two...
Read moreQuite simply the best supper on this trip! The pasta with fresh porcini and lavish shavings of black truffle was divine. With a glass of Chianti it was a perfect supper - with room afterwards for a delicious italian equivalent of a very light bread-and-butter pudding made with panforte and vin santo. I highly recommend this restaurant. Enzo and Sonia who run the place are charming, idosyncratic and delightful hosts. Don't be fooled by the long menu - everything is freshly cooked - but with only a few tables the service is swift. It is small - only 16 covers - and by 8pm was full. So if you don't want to miss this wonderful little restaurant when you are in Siena, it may be a good...
