I am from the united states and have lived in northern Italy for about 4-5 months & I decided to take a week and a half with my family and explore some Italy I haven't seen. We decided to see Lake garda and explore the little shops as a day trip. We came across Scaligeri's and it was incredible. I ordered the margarita pizza, my mother ordered the swiss burger. She is typically pretty picky about eating a lot out and isn't easily impressed but she absolutely loved it and described the burger as light, flavorful, simple, "just perfect", & the bread was light. My Margarita pizza was easily the best pizza i've ever had. since moving here I've tried probably around a dozen different places and this pizza was so incredible. it was extremely light, the bread was like a cloud and puffy, the sauce was light & flavorful but it was the perfect amount, & the cheese was beyond great. My mom doesn't even enjoy eating cheese and she was astonished when she tried it. We ordered a Red sparkling wine, Lambrusco, & we loved it, we cleared the bottle it quickly. For anyone who gets headaches easily from drinking, this is a perfect drink for you as it's smooth and extremely flavorful.
We sat outside on their little patio/porch & it was somewhat cold BUT they have one of those fancy heaters with a flame that is very nice and they offer these red plaid blankets to put on your lap if you get cold. The view is a castle and people walking around it's so cute!
the staff was very kind and did well speaking english as well although hopefully next time I visit, my italian will be better haha. the food came out with 7-10 minutes and was hot and excellent!
I recommend this place, 100/10 it was truly incredible and authentic, please try their margarita pizza it was truly amazing and simple. I hope whoever visits has the same level of experience that we had! (i attached...
Read moreSeeking some authentic Italian pizza we came to Scaligeri’s due to their overall positive reviews. We were placed at an uncovered, sticky table without a table cloth (others had a table cloth), We ordered 2 margherita pizzas and when they arrived they were missing 1/3 of the ingredients! (No basil, which is in contrast to their menu which clearly states Margherita pizzas come with Basil). Menu states: ‘ MARGHERITA (€9) Tomatosauce, mozzarella, basil ’. If I had wanted a cheese pizza I’d have ordered that, or perhaps visited a Dominos or Pizza Hut. We weren’t brought any bread/ breadsticks yet we were charged a €2 service fee each which was not explicitly laid out on the bill but instead included in the overall price which was confusing. So the total bill was €22. I understand service fees are the norm in Italy but there should be a price break down, it seems shady and underhanded. However, the fee was questionable considering no breadsticks/ bread was provided which was not the case for other guests who all had breadsticks at their tables. We also asked for tap water which is safe to drink in Sirmione but the waiter asserted this was not a possibility for a reason he did elucidate. Overall a below average experience which was disappointing given we were excited to try some authentic...

It didn’t look promising. I had my doubts from the start — but we were hungry, it was convenient, and sometimes you gamble. This time, the house won.
Right on the main drag, this place sells the idea of lunch — fast, familiar, clean — but not the experience. A few minutes later, you’re wondering how to politely escape.
They call them smash burgers, but nothing got smashed — except maybe my appetite.
Three burgers arrived, skewered like theme park snacks, next to a scoop of dry, underseasoned potato cubes. Toppings like truffle, mozzarella, and egg promised flair, but the beef was grey, tasteless, and indifferent. Truffle was a ghost. The mozzarella sat cold. The bacon? Overcooked and sad.
Service — in Italy, where meals are usually sacred — was rushed and sloppy. Plates dropped like afterthoughts. Hands in faces. No sense of space, no sense of timing.
Then they handed out cross-promotion coupons for a nearby ice cream shop. The kids liked that. But it was clear: this wasn’t about dining. It was about turnover and tourist wallets.
And the kicker? It’s hard for food in Italy to make you feel sick — but we found...
