As a nervous traveller, I'd like to say that Hotel Degli Oleandri was brilliant and you should not worry about staying here. It's a few feet from the beaches and is also around the corner from the shops and restaurants. Next door to a wonderful church, it too has a certain charm about it, and you can tell from the well in the foyer that it's very old (1060 was it?). Sermione itself is beautiful and I will definitely be coming back, however it is a bit small so don't plan to stay there for too long. The people are very kind and helpful and most speak English. The only problem was it was hard to find water for cheap, but we braved a dodgy-looking shop and lived. Don't let that make you think it's a dodgy place - it's far from it! Sermione reminded us of Far Far Away from Shrek in that it still looks Medieval, and stepping through the gate is like stepping into a kingdom. The hotel staff were so kind and always went out of their way to help, even letting us have the DVD player to watch the latest Hobbit film! (Thanks, Alan!) The food at breakfasts was amazing and we frequently ended up with a cake-dominated meal, although there were many healthier options too. The room was small, as many reviews say, but there was nothing else wrong with it. The cleaning was very thorough, the towels were fluffy, and I would definitely pay that bit extra for a view - breath-taking! I would have liked to have free use of the air conditioning, but the rooms were nice and cool anyway and I wouldn't have used it very often. If like me you are panicky abroad, there is someone on stand by downstairs so you can call them from the room at night if something should happen. All round a wonderful hotel, but the room size does restrict it from being 5 stars I'm afraid. Sermione is a beautiful place and I wouldn't think twice about...
Read moreI can't recommend this place enough—the service was exceptional from start to finish. We arrived in Sirmione quite early, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. They happily stored our luggage while we explored the area, and even let us relax in the bar for a drink before it officially opened.
If you’re staying here, I highly suggest booking breakfast on the terrace for just €5 per person. The experience was unforgettable, with a stunning view of the lake and surrounding towns. The breakfast itself was included in our booking, and it was fantastic—a buffet with a wide variety of options, ensuring there was something for everyone. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared.
One thing that often gets overlooked in reviews is the housekeeping, but it deserves special mention here. The woman who cleaned our room every day did an outstanding job. She was so friendly and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She even gave us some great tips on local spots to check out, which added a nice personal touch to our stay. If the hotel manager sees this, please pass along our thanks to her—she had black curly hair and took care of room 36 on July 24th, 25th, and 26th. We wish we could have left her a tip, but unfortunately, she wasn’t working on the day we checked out.
Overall, our room and the service exceeded all expectations. Although the hotel is rated 3 stars, in my opinion, it truly deserves 4 or even 5 stars. We were extremely happy with our stay and would return in...
Read moreCouldn't recommend this place any higher, the service we received was outstanding. We arrived very early to Sirmione and the staff were so friendly and more than happy to look after our luggage while we explored and waited for our room to be ready, they even let us sit in the bar for a drink outwith opening hours.
One thing I'd recommend is book the breakfast on the terrace for €5 per person, we had an amazing experience with a breathtaking view of the surrounding lake and towns in the distance. Breakfast was included with our booking and it was spectacular with a range of options to choose from, they provide a buffet so that there is something for everyone and the food itself was perfect.
One thing that doesn't get mentioned in reviews is cleaning and the cleaning staff. The woman that cleaned our room every day did such an amazing job. She was so friendly and happy to help if we needed anything. She suggested a few things about the local area and where to try etc so recommend which we felt was an extra level of customer service. If the hotel manager sees this review, could you please pass on our gratitude to her, we didn't catch her name but she had black curly hair and cleaned room 36 on the 24/25/26 July. We wish we could have left her something but found out she didn't work on the day were leaving.
Overall the room and service that was provided went over and above our expectations and was extremely happy with our stay. The hotel is rated 3-stars but in my opinion it reaches 4/5...
