We had dinner at Da Nello in Sorrento and it turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip — so good, we’ve already booked to go back tomorrow.
I reserved in advance through TheFork, and our hotel staff (vittori) were genuinely pleased when they heard, which gave us high hopes from the start. We arrived for our 7 PM booking and were seated outside. The evening light was fading, the atmosphere was lively but relaxed, and the smell of wood-fired pizzas and fresh pasta drifting from inside set the perfect tone.
Service was excellent — friendly, fast, and attentive without ever rushing us. I ordered a large Peroni, served ice-cold, while my fiancée had a lemon soda (a simple drink, but incredibly refreshing — highly recommend).
The menu had so many tempting choices that I couldn’t decide. Luckily, when the chef walked past, I asked for his advice on a non-seafood dish, and he personally recommended the homemade spaghetti with meatballs. It was absolutely spot on. My fiancée ordered the Da Nello Special — a mix of garlic, red pepper, and toasted bread — and for starters we shared calamari and bruschetta.
Every dish was outstanding — fresh, authentic, and full of flavor, with that comforting homemade touch you only get in true Italian family-run places. The whole experience felt warm and genuine, from the food to the service to the atmosphere.
If you’re in Sorrento, don’t miss Da Nello. It’s a place where everything comes together — the setting, the service, and above all, the food.
We loved it so much that one visit...
Read moreEdit after we read their rude and uneducated reply:
We came here with an infant baby. They didn't offer the baby seat until we asked for it. At the place there was a dog who was peeing on the floor, then the owner is now writing about pasta on the floor (fell down from the baby, what should we do, slap the baby who is trying to eat?) So ridiculous reply from these rude people, although we didn't comment on the price but they have to answer in vwry bad manner stating that we want to eat for free, are you serious right now??? All we wanted is to have clean, fresh, and as described food. Now you don't even deserve one star. So disgusting people.
The food is not as described in the menus. Spaghetti comes without any basil. It is overcooked and very little amount. The other dishes are not fresh and also very little.
The lady in there is not friendly, not smiling, not bringing any essential supplements for the ordered food. They even charged us for the paper sheets they put on the table, and for the extra chili we requested, unbelievable
We don't recommend it if you are looking for real italian food. This is more like fast food and not authentic...
Read morePositive: English speaking waiter, fast service, good and cheap food (we ordered pizza).
Negative: The drinks were not on the menu, no written check. Only after ordering we found out the drinks were expensive.
Story: Me&my gf (both "almost" backpackers, under 30yo), needed a decent place to eat after our plans changed. Upon searching on GMaps by distance&low price&reviews we decided on Da Nello. The first clue that something was fishy arised from the menu on the wall - no drinks listed. The second clue was the lack of drinks even from the written menu. We ordered 2 pizzas, 1 tap beer and 1 glass of wine. After we finished and asked for the check, the waiter told us it was 25E. No written check was provided. Given the fact that the pizzas totaled 13.5E, we can only presume that the drinks were expensive. To be honest, we would have eaten there regardless of the drinks' price, but I would deem it a bad experience just because we felt ripped off. AVOID IF YOU...
