Place has gone from hero to zero, we came on Saturday and fancyed some sushi as my wife and I always eat at a local sushi restaurant and though all you can eat was a great idea so we had a great experience eat lots of Cally rolls and spicy tuna rolls as they were my wife's favourite dishes the staff were very nice and we even got my son to try the deep fried squid rings we had a fill and thought it was a fair price.
As for today we were looking for a place and asked are son where he wanted to go and to are amazement he want squid rings, chicken and chips from the sushi place as we enjoyed it last time we thought it was a safe choice to go here again.....or so we thought
When we arrived it wasn't busy so we went in and the server asked if we wanted to sit so we asked to sit outside we ordered drinks and told the server we had already been here before. We asked if possible for are son to get the three dishes he wanted and us to get the all you can eat but unfortunately was told that they couldn't do that and he was to be part of the all you can eat (we understand why but charging us a full adult price instead of half was a bit cheeky) food started to come out and and the disaster started to unfold. The spicy tuna rolls tasted bad and on opening one up found the tuna to be brown instead of pink, the prawns tasted salty and were mushy, the Cally rolls didn't taste the same as before either. The squid that we ordered was all very mushy and when we ordered a "crispy dumpling" we got only to describe a soggy lasagna pasta filled with baby sick. From there we hit the stop button. I tried to politely ask for a waiter but after 10 minutes ended up waving my hands around like a mad man to get someone's attention.
A waiter came over and asked if we were okay for me to tell him we were unhappy with the food he said I will go get the chef which by that time we just wanted to go we asked for the bill and the manager came out to ask what was wrong. After telling him his response was "they are the same dishes as before" my wife and I can't really get this though are heads as we know they were the same dishes that why we asked for them. It was a quality issue not that we didn't like the dishes we ordered. From there we paid the bill and ran to the nearest supermarket as we were still hungry.
I suggest getting the food here on the weekend instead or during the week as the standards are...
Read moreSplurged on this all you can eat (“buffet”) meal while visiting Sorrento. Dinner buffet is 40 euro per person and does not include drinks or dessert. The ordering system on the iPad and lack of timely service at one of our tables ruined our experience as we were very hungry and never got to eat as much as we wanted to and left irritable. What we had hoped would be a special fun experience turned out to be a big waste of money. The manager refused to come out and at least discuss and acknowledge the terrible service. Also it was poorly explained how the limited dishes work to our tables. Within each limited section, you can only order a total of however many people are at the table. For example, for party of 6, you can only order 6 orders total from a limited section ( ie Ikura specials) and not 6 of each of the items within that section. Some of the combination of tastes were weird and unrefreshing. The presentation may have been nice but the food was hit and miss. the ramen and fried rice were inedibly salty. We didn’t order a wide variety because they didn’t sound appealing with weird combinations and a lot of cream cheese in the sushi offerings. Sweet sauce on the ceviche dish made it unpleasant to eat ruining the fresh fish. With the exception of the sashimi which was reasonably fresh, the other raw fish dishes like the sushi rolls were not cold enough, and therefore not refreshing. The service ruined the entire dinner for us though. Definitely not worth the high price tag. So Disappointing and huge...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend came here after searching online for the top restaurants in Sorrento.
Instead of the usual pizza and pasta we wanted something different - and we are sushi lovers so we where excited to try!
The inside decor is amazing - very modern and niche. Didn’t feel like the usual places in Sorrento.
The food is outstanding - we opted for the all you can eat which is about 35€ each - but very very much so worth it, the quality of the sushi and the dumplings and buns was top notch. Everything was beautifully presented and came in record time.
You use a digital iPad to order your food which is at every table and can just order as much as you want as you go along! So easy and smart!
The cocktails where so good as-well, the samurai punch was spectacular - so tasty!!
The service was some of the best I have experienced in a long time and in Sorrento!
I can’t stress enough - This is a must try!
Little tip if you are going for the all you can eat - mind not to eat too much before or bag yourself up with cocktails and beers before you get there if you wanna go all out for what you paid ;)
Thank you to everyone at IKURA Sorrento.
We will definitely be back...
