We noticed this restaurant tucked away while walking the main street. It looked unique, so we decided to give it a go. I'm glad I did, as I couldn't fault it! We liked it so much that we came back on our last night in Sorrento!
When we arrived they weren’t quite ready, so we were asked to take a seat in the waiting area while they prepared the tables and we were given menus. Even the waiting area was a really nice location to sit and relax!
It wasn’t long before we were told that the table was ready. We were guided through the large and spacious restaurant to a table in a lovely high quality outdoor gazebo type structure. It felt like a being outside with the luxury of additional atmospheric lighting.
There is both seating under shelter and completely open. From what I could see, all tables were in a lovely location with plenty of space. On our first visit, there was some relaxing music being played at what seemed like perfect volume. On the second visit, they had live music being played by a seemingly talented musician. It was quite nice to have someone playing music who wasn’t a busker! He was playing both old music, and chart music.
There was plenty of choice in the menu. All of it sounded delicious and was of a good price. The options included a wide variety of pizzas, pastas, and other Italian meals.
Once we had made our order, our food arrived in good time. When it arrived, we were delighted with how lovely it looked. Almost too good to eat, but we ate it anyway! All four of us found our meals perfectly cooked and delicious. Afterwards we ordered dessert. The dessert menu included photos of the meals. All of it looked and tasted delicious again.
Out of all the restaurants we visited in Sorrento, this was the only place which gave us the bill after only asking once. We were quite surprised to find that the total was average for meals in the town, despite it being our favourite. Amazing value!
Throughout the meal, all the staff were friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would certainly come back if I am ever in...
Read moreMy partner and I both got food poisoning from eating here and it nearly prevented us from being able to travel to the Amalfi Coast the following day.
Now that we have eaten at multiple restaurants in Sorrento, the food here was nowhere near the quality of what you would expect - especially in comparison to the other places in town. We ordered the seafood appetizer and we could tell it wasn’t fresh so we didn’t finish it. The sauce for my pasta was tasty but the prawns had a weird texture - almost like they were formed from mashed potatoes or something. I didn’t finish eating that either. We did notice a disclaimer on the menu that stated, depending on season, some foods are cooked from frozen, but I didn’t imagine that would be applicable during the summer months where seafood and produce is in abundance here. We should have left upon reading that.
The service was decent, with one of our wait staff in particular being friendlier than the rest. However, when we were escorted in to our table, we were told there were no seats remaining in the prime areas so we were put at a table in the corner near the bar and bathrooms. This would have been okay if it truly was the only seat remaining, but when I saw the host seat Italian guests in the gazebo, I felt a little annoyed - especially because the guests were in line just behind us and they too were walk-in guests without reservations.
The ambience is really pretty. From the outside, bustle, you wouldn’t imagine that you would be seated in a quiet courtyard surrounded by gardens and lemon trees. I just would have loved a different table to better enjoy the atmosphere.
Overall, I would not recommend this place for the food experience, there are much better places in town. If you want to be in the atmosphere, I would suggest checking it out for a cocktail or...
Read moreBefore you get too excited by all overly generous reviews, read my experience. We attended with a wedding party of 11 earlier this evening, yes they had plenty of room and yes we were seated and served quickly, the venue is really nice, set under a beautiful tree canopy, BUT the food quality and prices for me do not represent value for money and are more importantly are not condusive with each other. My wife’s meat tagliatelle came cold, this had to be changed, and to be fair it was changed quickly. In reference to antipasti / starters, I consider 16-18 euros expensive, so that’s just my view. 8-10 would be fair, our table only ordered one starter for this reason which was quite tasty, but again overpriced. I’ve had amazing starters and even main meals in Sorrento for less than 10 euros. I ordered a pizza which had about 30 olives, capers and anchovies on, but come on 30 black olives!? Why that many? It was way way way too salty, I understand it should be a little salty given the toppings but this pizza was virtually inedible, the saltiness was unbearable, to make it worse the waiter made excuses and tried to justify how bad it was, he never offered an apology once, granted, taste is subjective but surely the food has to be edible at least! I also found the dough a bit uncooked and bland like it had not cured properly. We also shared a Parma ham and mushroom pizza, this was the exact opposite and totally bland. Unfortunately there is no excuse for bad pizza in Italy. There is a bar 50 yards away made a pizza for me the day before that was truly amazing for only €8 Surely a high end restaurant should make better pizza? The portion sizes are good but the taste for us simply was not there. Anyway it’s what it is, we said our piece paid the bill and left. We won’t be...
